2/19 update: Please see

Feel free to continue emailing legislators, but the immediate action below for the committee meeting is now out of date.

Thank you for all of the support so far! Now we've got some more to do!

This is a post from Marion Bishop, a moderator in the Facebook "Washington 2022 Legislative Action Group - Save your civil rights" group. Here's the original post:

All hands on deck!

Hello and welcome to another special edition of our threads covering the ongoing WA legislative session, running until 3/10. Today (2/16) in the House Civil Rights & Judiciary hearing we heard some well-constructed and compelling testimony against the mag ban bill.

We need immediate help - tonight (2/16) and tomorrow (2/17) - to keep the pressure on the committee members. We are asking everyone - whether you testified already or not - to directly call/email the committee members with your opposition. Sending them the same testimony you submitted for the hearing would be acceptable. This should be a quick action, but we need lots of volume.

The House Civil Rights & Judiciary committee members are:

Name - Phone

Drew Hansen (D, Chair) - (206) 333-2975
Tarra Simmons (D, Vice Chair) - (564) 888-2476
Jim Walsh (R, Ranking Minority Member) - (360) 485-0547
Greg Gilday (R, Assistant Ranking Minority Member) - (360) 939-1211
Jenny Graham (R, Assistant Ranking Minority Member) - (509) 960-5393
Peter Abbarno (R) - (360) 786-7896
Lauren Davis (D) - (206) 673-3501
Debra Entenman (D) - (253) 330-5504
Roger Goodman (D) - (360) 786-7878
Steve Kirby (D) - (360) 786-7996
Brad Klippert (R) - (360) 786-7882
Tina Orwall (D) - (253) 656-5265
Strom Peterson (D) - (564) 888-2336
My-Linh Thai (D) - (206) 333-4107
Javier Valdez (D) - (206) 905-8739
Amy Walen (D) - (425) 883-3366
Alex Ybarra (R)(360) 786-7808

Please take 5-10 minutes to call/email the committee members and spread this message. We have shattered the record for testimony numbers during today's hearing, and we need to keep the pressure on to keep this from being passed out of committee.

It would be helpful to leave us a quick "Done" comment once complete. Thank you for stepping up!

And . . . done. Email sent to all!

"Representatives,

During today's committee hearing, you heard loudly and clearly from many Washingtonians about the terrible impacts that ESSB 5078 (magazine ban) will have on our state, from sportsmen to store owners to those who simply want to be able to defend themselves, and want their children and grandchildren to be able to do the same.

Please take the testimony that you heard to heart; this truly is a hurtful bill, and should not become law in Washington.

Please oppose ESSB 5078, and do not move it out of committee.

Thank you!

A suggestion: if you have any legal system connection (police, military police, sheriff, prosecutor, corrections) or fire, EMS etc, make note of that. I include my experience in the opening sentence.
