I bought a used Ruger M77 in .270 in the early 90's. I have a number of other nice bolt rifles but ironically the .270 has been in my hands for all of my Mule deer and coyotes. I have taken both long and close shots with it. I prefer the recoil of the .270 over the .30-06 and the accuracy is amazing. I have a couple pet loads for it. Alas, I am planning to sell it to thin the herd. I have a .270WSM that is fun to shoot and also very accurate but not as easy to shoot as the .270 Win. That is for sale too. But I shuffle firearms these days because I love to shoot different rifles. At some point I would like to pick up a Win Model 70 Featherweight in .270. I would be satisfied with the .270W if I could only have one rifle. I thank God that is not the case.....yet.

I will never part with my 6.8.
