Well, you should not say things like California has ammo purchasing background checks, when the bill has not yet become law, and its outcome is not 100% certain. For you will end up with egg on your face, if Governor Brown vetoes it.

Even if the governor does end up signing this bill, it will not go into effect until this coming July 1st. If that does happen, there could be a big rush on mail order ammo companies this month.

Anyone wanting to buy ammo online this month should put their order in now.

Dude, I have bad news for you. A number of groups that support a Mexican "Reconquista", include Oregon in their desired lands. Several other Mexican groups that have called for the formation of a new country of "Aztlan", have also included Oregon in that future Latino nation.

Many Mexicans believe that they have a legal right to be in this territory, since it was illegally seized by the US government. And that this land should rightfully be dominated and inhabited by descendants of the Aztec Empire.

So you see, Oregon is going to disappear in the future:

Personally, I think, just like Jefferson, it's never going to happen. No doubt many folks want it to happen, and they certainly are trying to make it happen by just flooding our country with illegals.

But, any attempt to do this would result in an all-out war with the U.S. And they would lose, and they would lose big time. Not to mention the fact that the number of well armed civilians in the U.S. far outnumbers the resources they have to fight us (even with Obama arming them). No, as irritating as this story is, I don't see it happening.

Undoubtedly it's meant to stir fear. I would hope most folks are bright enough to know it's a ruse.

But as to them being pawns, I don't think that's the case at all. No doubt some or many are coming here for the work. But I don't think it's a stretch to think many may actually be Mexican patriots that have a desire not only to gain work, but to spread the 'gospel of Mexico' up north. Similar, in my mind, to those coming in from the Middle East with potential ties to groups like ISIS.

I think that when one looks at all factors, that you are right about states not leaving the union. Puerto Rico is a good example to consider when examining this separation movement. Puerto Rico has had well organized groups fighting for independence for many decades. While there were significant uprising in parts of Puerto Rico in the early 1950's, plus the attempted assassination of President Truman on Nov 1, 1950, that left one of his guards dead, as well as the shooting attack from the gallery of the US Congress on On March 1, 1954 that wounded 5 US Congressmen, but failed to kill any of them.

But people in Puerto Rico eventually came to their senses, and realized that they were better off being part of the United States. Even today, there is discussion in Congress about the Federal government coming in to financially support the government of Puerto Rico, since it is all but bankrupt. Puerto Rico missed a $400 Million dollar debt payment last month, and can now no longer get credit. There is a bailout proposal currently in the Congress that will involve the Federal government taking much more control in Puerto Rico, in exchange for propping up the government financially. So I think that Hispanics everywhere will in general recognize that if for no other reason than economics, it makes sense to stay in the USA.

You are clearly exaggerating though, when you say that most of the rest of America is of German descent. There was a widely quoted study done in 2012 by Bloomberg that did analyze data from the 2010 US Census, that estimated that 49,000,000 Americans had some German ancestry. However, this was out of a total US population then of over 308,000,000. So that number was actually less than one sixth of the US population.

It is accurate to say that more Americans have some German ancestry, than any other national ethnic group. But it is not at all accurate to exaggerate that to the point of making it appear to be a majority of whites. For the 2010 US Census counted 197,000,000 white americans. 49,000,000 amounts to only a fourth of that.


P.S. - The 4 Puerto Rican terrorists that attempted to murder members of the US Congress 1954 were all given Presidential commutations in 1979 by then President Carter, which got them all out of their life prison sentences, and allowed them to return to Puerto Rico. The President commuted their sentences on humanitarian grounds, since all 4 had developed serious health problems during their 25 years in prison.

Yeah, I goofed. It is as you say, the largest percentage, but not a majority.

There actually are some cases of people being "flooded" (more or less) into a region to take control of it, and one of the best examples is right here, in the old Oregon Territory. The US and the Brits were settling as many people as they could, with the intention of getting control. Half went to the US and half (British Columbia) to the Brits.

People come here for the work and the better living conditions, that's all.

I should have included, "for the welfare", since people now come for that as well, and our wonderful government is so "helpful" to provide the stolen loot for them to glom onto. But that's not a Mexican problem, it's an American government problem. Offer stolen loot, don't be surprised that some people take you up on it.

I am honestly amazed at how much free stuff has been offered to immigrant Latinos by our state and local governments.

Example: the past two years the city that I live in held a big Latino Festival the week of Cinco de Mayo. I noticed, however, that this year no Festival was announced or took place. I made some inquiries, and discovered that the previous festivals had been funded with the help of local government grants! They were mainly paid for by the government, although it really had not been ever advertised before as being government sponsored.

In any event, I was told that they could not get a government grant this year, so no festival was held.

Apparently the city government thought that if they kickstarted the event initially, it would take off, and could continue on with just private support. But that did not happen.

I'm not. Since everyone else is on the government dole, why shouldn't immigrants be? Why should they be more virtuous than anybody else?

Got your kid in a government school? You're on the dole. Get Socialist Security checks? You're on the dole. Government regulating and licensing your occupation? You're on the dole.
