Is a possible solution...to have firearm classes in schools for children and adults to learn how to 'put down' these cowards that go to an event like this one and kill people? A licensed/approved course that stresses behaviors to take when attacked?
Seems we need more 'citizens' with firearms throughout our society to deter/stop these criminals or do we just quit going to fun social events like garlic festivals altogether. And then we just hunker-down at home ever fearful that we may be shot at any and all events, anywhere?
I am ready to suggest civil disobedience regarding these legislative guidelines/laws that put citizens in compromised scenarios. Bring your gun with you...to church, in your vehicle, to festivals, to everywhere you don't have to pass through a metal detector. Huh, metal detectors, seems the court rooms and other governmental buildings do have metal detectors and authorized people wearing guns in official capacities to protect them...what about us. How do we protect ourselves?
I've got a cpl (concealed pistol license) in WA ST and it is somewhat of a pain in the butt to carry; the responsibility, the restrictions, the discomfort...would be nothing compared to the loss of a loved one due to some idiot.
Take care of yourself and others.
