1565374028717.jpg We are officially going full Orwellian.

What is your suggested alternative?

We all need to write in someone. Or maybe some far right or libertarian pro gunner will challenge Trump and we can vote for them.

We Will lose, but better than supporting the republicans while they screw us over.

Besides at this point I am ready to go full accelerationist. We are practically socialist already with all the gibsmedats. Lets go full socialist and collapse it all so we can rebuild while we still have men who value freedom on this PLANET.

Its not just this country at stake, the whole world is going to hell and we are the last sputtering flicker of individual liberty and we are quickly being extiguished.

Who else on this PLANET is going to take up the torch once ours goes out?

Add to that many farmers who won't vote for him due to his tariffs (China stopped buying ALL US ag products yesterday) and factory workers who are laid off, and he will probably lose the election.

Whether his past supporters vote dem, 3rd party or don't vote, what counts is they won't vote for Trump - just like many didn't vote for Clinton. He will probably lose 2020.

Prepare for the worst.
The man can support gun-grabbing until the cows come home, it will ensure his defeat. None of the libs he seeks to pacify will vote for him if he was the only candidate on the ballot- and many of us who would vote for him will be turned off if he signs on to unConstitutional red flag laws. Still, we need that "5th Justice" on the USSC when Ruthie croaks.
Personally, I will vote in the general 2020, whether I vote for Mr Trump or not- too many other issues to be decided- like the make up of the Senate and House.

Here's a novel idea — don't wait for the next election. Instead call or e-mail the Whitehouse and tell them if Trump burns gun owners again you aren't voting for him.

Let Trump do the math on how many votes he's going to lose and make a determination if he wants to die on this hill.

"If not us, who" If not now, when?" Ronald Reagan, famously quoting the talmudic scholar Hillel..
NO UNCONSTITUTIONAL "red flag" laws, now or ever. Violation of 4th Amendment- "The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized." If the lib/dem/commucrats allow this, there will be hell to pay all across the board and it WILL be applied to them sooner or later. A very poor precedent to be setting.. just sayin..

In what is a pretty firm two party system, the only sensible thing to do is vote for the least evil. Or to frame it in a more civil way, to vote for the candidate whom you feel will do you the most good. That's it. Deciding not to vote for the least evil out of protest only empowers the more evil.

Actually, he was a gun controller long before the Hughes amendment, Brady bill and the '94 AWB. You forgot about him signing the Mulford Act and taking open carry away from the people of the once great state of California.

I used to catch HECK for mentioning this on some other gun/political forums. I have mentioned it here in the past too.

But it is true!

PS: I voted for Reagan the first time that he ran and won. I do not consider Ollie North a patriot but I do consider him a drug/gun/money runner. I do commend him for serving his country but when he put on his uniform while sitting in the hearings, well, I will not go there now. And as far as the NRA goes - Wayne should have been LONG gone a long time ago.

This. The Repubs take us for granted. They think they can get away with implementing gun control because we have no choice and have to vote "the lesser of two evils." They clearly don't really support gun owners, or they would have used control of the presidency and both houses of congress to push through the hearing protection act and other favorable legislation. They need to see us as a swing vote that they have to cater to.

If they were to lose the next presidential election because gun owners turn on them, I bet they would work overtime to jam up any Dem legislation to earn our votes back. Or, we can convince them ahead of time and put them back on track. Write the president and all your reps to tell them that voting for gun control will cost them your vote next election. It can't hurt, you are always free to vote for them when the time comes.

As of today, the only reason I see to a Trump reelection is his Supreme Court pick, and those are such a crapshoot anyway- who's to say he will pick someone with the correct views on the second amendment, and who's to say how they will actually vote once appointed? We've been burned before on this.

I know some people who will not vote for him but they did not vote for him or HC in the last election too. I did not vote for him or HC because I had figured out that something was wrong with him (!) with his constant flip flopping during town hall meetings and before and after the convention.

And I detested the ! Clintons and I still detest them.

Plus tons more which I am not allowed to say here.

And if I had voted for him - this gun business and anti RKBA issue would make me NOT want to vote for him and NOT vote for a D and vote for another person or get someone else to run. I wish that Rand Paul or someone like him would run.

And the people that I DO KNOW, life long, old fashioned, true fiscal conservative/smaller government Rs who held their nose, and who did vote for him are Not going to vote for him again IF this goes through and they do NOT like how he is running things. They are sick of a lot of things which I am not allowed to say here from a to z. THOSE GUN MEN told me this flat out!

They don't vote for a D either. Some of them might vote third party or try to get another R to run.

The farmers/ranchers and other NORMAL - sane working and retired people are so SICK of the bat s! CRAZY ___ coming out of the District of Criminals - Rs and Ds included.

If this country collapses there will be national and global chaos. Russia and China will be given authority by the despot-run UN to send in "peace-keeping" troops and there will never be an America again.

Meh, much has been done by CIA, soldiers, etc at the direction of their political masters. We armed the Taliban... look how that turned out! I don't see any diff between that and what Ollie was asked to do by Reagan. We armed Mexican troops that then turned into the Zapatas.

If you had ever listened to Ollie North's radio show, you would know he is a true patriot, lover of his country.

Ollie tried to protest over Wayne's mishandling of NRA donor funds and wound up getting thrown out. He stood up to corruption. Ya gotta give him some cred.

NRA crackup widens way for background check bill

Gun rights activists are more than a little worried.

After decades of success in not just preventing new gun control legislation in the wake of mass killings but even rolling back existing measures, the movement is on a perilous perch.

Our government had fallen into a predictable cycle in the wake of high-profile mass murders: Gun control activists would propose new restrictions, Congress and the president would promise action and then, once a decorous period of time had passed, the measures would be rubbished.

The fact that gun-rights proponents were able to prevent any legislative response to the 2012 massacre of young school children in Newtown, Conn. – when there was both a Democratic president and a Democratic majority in the Senate – is an astonishing feat.

There's strong public support for measures like the one backed by Sens. Pat Toomey, R-Pa., and Joe Manchin, D-W. Va., to require background checks be conducted on private firearms transfers. That support is intensified by the anguish Americans feel over the senseless murders and a desire to do something, even if it wouldn't have prevented the killings. Anything just to feel a little less powerless.

Now, though, there are some cracks.

In the wake of the murder of 58 Las Vegas concertgoers in 2017, the Republican president pushed through restrictions on a tool to modify rifles to fire more rapidly. Then in an even more remarkable move, bipartisan legislation passed Congress to reform the National Instant Criminal Background Check System used to vet would-be firearms purchasers.

These were small things compared to the lavish demands of those in the gun-control community but they were notable for having taken place during a period of unified Republican control in Washington.

One can attribute these things to shifting public opinion, to which large-scale efforts by anti-gun groups may have played a part. But there is more at work here.

On Tuesday, the head of the National Rifle Association, Wayne LaPierre, spoke with Trump and reportedly warned the president against Trump's recently expressed support for legislation like the bill proposed by Toomey and Manchin. It worked two years ago. Will it work again?

It was a busy day for LaPierre, who is simultaneously contending with the crackup of his own organization and an ongoing effort to toss him out.

The NRA, once the Death Star of political pressure groups, has for months been beset by infighting, allegations of misconduct and mixed messaging. The most recent is a charge from the group's longtime advertising agency that LaPierre sought to spend millions in donor funds on a mansion for himself.

This comes after a decade of unprecedented expansion by the NRA, which cast aside its traditional advocacy role in favor of becoming a one-stop shop for conservatives with its own TV network and broad-spectrum opposition to Democrats on a host of issues.

The NRA remains a prodigious power in Washington because of its millions of members, but as an institution itself, it's looking more than a little wobbly.

On a lighter note: I would never vote for socialist Tulsi Gabbard, but she does have a great voice (she could recite a telephone book and I'd listen just to hear her voice) and is a stunner to look at.....holy moly, she is 'Sah-Mokin' hot!

And She volunteered for a 12mo tour in Iraq after enlisting in the Hawaii National Guard.

Unfortunately she also has an "F" rating from the NRA on the 2A, and a 100% rating by the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence...pretty as a picture, but she sure stinks on constitutional matters.
