There is a short term game and a long term game played out here. Education is the long term game. If people were properly educated in their rights and responsibilities as citizens it wouldn't matter that cities are densely populated because they would still have great reverence for the uniquely American gift that is having the rights as citizens past generations have fought to preserve.

It's much easier to take away rights when people aren't even taught what rights they have and why those rights are important. The reason why densely populated cities outvote the entire rest of the state is because of countless uneducated folks who are just "sheep" they do what they are told and are easily led.

The long game feeds the short game. 594 and 1639 are the short game, but they were fed by the long game of the education system.

@American123 That "like" isn't a like of the situation but an agreement with your analysis--the Soviets put great effort into subverting our education system because they knew that it would be an IV of poison to destroy us from within.

Problem is, how do we fix it when the State Legislature and Supreme Court are wholly-owned subsidiaries of the WEA, the very institution responsible for so much of the problem here?

Don't have all the answers, just thoughts, the bologna we are dealing with wasn't created overnight, it won't be a quick fix either. Socialism/communism is like cancer.

We're a bit at an impasse as a society. Half wants to control the other half, half wants to tell the other half what they can and can't own, and that half ain't to keen on giving it up. The first half is completely misguided and disingenuous because while they claim they want a peaceful resolution, it's only through the coercive use of force that they claim to desire peace.

As I said, the long game is the education system. Hence my calling to teach was additionally supported by this understanding. The short game is the law and legislative process. If there is never a line in the sand drawn. The lengths to which citizens will be stripped of their freedoms is endless. This is where I think the concept of a militia is important. As individuals, we are weak. As larger entities of groups, formidable. This is where "the state" gains their power from. "The state" operates as a collective unit generally only opposed by individuals at a time. The individual against "the state" will always be a losing battle.

I think the bundy ranch standoff is a great example of this. Had it been a few guys sitting on the roads saying "stop this state," "the state" would have rolled up, through sheer numbers, ignored them, arrested them or shot them.

Because there were literally hundreds of people standing in unison, armed. The "the state" had to think twice, and couldn't just railroad over the individual citizens who were acting as a cohesive unit.

I guess you could refer to this as a "Cold War" in this country, because obviously we don't have open warfare, however, we do have people actively working every single day to remove rights from American citizens and of course failure to comply with those new laws would basically mean imprisonments or death.

That's the problem, Californians want to move away from their sh!t but then bring it everywhere else.

There was a 6.4 earthquake today July 4th n.e. of L.A., It was a warning to Californians from our fore father's that it's time to stop disrespecting America and the constatution.
It was our fore father's rolling over in their graves

If Oregon gun laws was put to a vote it probably would not pass. I can't believe gun owners voted for her .Oregon has gone straight down the toilet and not just on gun laws. If I wanted to live like a Californian I would have moved there.

A LOT do not actually vote for her and her ilk but, a LOT either refuse to bother to cast a ballot, or better yet virtue signal. Tell all they are above voting for someone who is only a little better. So they throw the vote away. Both of these voters end up supporting the one who wins. Both of these voters then scream when things are a mess, and blame everyone else. I keep thinking people in both states will finally get a belly full and do something, like vote. As of yet there seems to be no bottom to this where enough will wake up. Very sad to watch what has happened.

When a candidate is only a little better me thinks its time for new parties. We did that in the past when that happened.

To me, spreading the word is met with deer in the headlights , like I'm a Jehovah Witness and "man, I'm just here to pop off some rounds and not wanting to hear a debate about politics"....

How do ya reach these people???

Damn if I know Jim. I see the same thing and get very frustrated. With each new law many of those who did not want to get involved get mad. Problem is it seems short lived and they go back to head in the ground. I keep wondering how bad it will have to get to wake them up.

This has long been a problem in a few places. People vote in all these "great ideas" that turn the place into a sewer. So the ones with means then move. As soon as they settle they start trying to vote in the same sewer. It really is a mental disorder. Keep doing the same thing over and over and expect a different result.

If one could win I would be all in on that. Problem is they can't win. If we could get gun owners to vote as a block for a few elections we would see amazing change. 99.99% of lawmakers will NOT go against the majority no matter how they feel. They can be super anti gun but if it means they lose? Watch how fast they start to vote the way we want. It's all about power. Only thing they fear is loss of power. So as long as they can do what they do now and win? Why change?

I assumed the people on this forum would vote as a block to protect the interest we all share . Boy was that a outdated thought.

Yep that is sad too. This group is only a tiny fraction of the gun owning public but even here you will see a lot of virtue signaling at every election. As I have said for decades now gun owners are their own worst enemy at every election. I used to think it would hit a point that would wake up the sleeping giant. I have started to wonder if that will ever happen now. Nothing seems to be "too far".

Did a few of us take a Washington based post and redirect it to Oregon?
Mabey so. But Oregon's version of 1639 will, show up soon and I sure hope we at least get to vote on it rather that being imposed on US by dictators .

Of course it will. As long as the voters in OR "allow" what it going on it will of course just keep getting worse. The anti never stop and never get enough. As soon as gun owners go along with some "compromise", the anti are at it again. Until or unless there is every real push back, as in lawmakers being kicked to the curb, it will only get worse with time.

Time is passing at a high rate of speed. The last 5 years Oregon is a whole different world . Change junkies have turn this state into a dump

First it was 594 now 1639, I'm sure the next one is in the works already. I wager it will be elimination of bulk online ammo purchases and addition of bgc for all ammo.

When they are done we will be like Barney fife with 1 round of 38 that required a background check.

Oregon and Washington both seem to be in competition to see who can come up with the worst laws...:cool:

It's in the leftists nature, they have to see who can virtue signal the loudest. Just watch the democrat debates; each one is trying to out leftist / out progressive each other too look good in the eyes of those in Seattle and Portland. It's perfect for the leftist/progressive politicians, as the more problems they can create, makes more problems there are for them to solve using leftist/progressive logic, which creates more problems................. It's a never ending way for them to signal to their base "look how compassionate/virtuous/leftist/progressive I am". It keeps them in power.

Now that it's in effect, I'm completely floored by the number of members posting on this forum and others in threads about 1639 who seem to be completely clueless about it. Posts that indicate that they have zero knowledge of its contents and are wondering how it will be affecting them moving forward.

For God's sake, this has been discussed at great length for nearly the last year.

If they are this oblivious, I would bet that many didnt bother themselves with voting against it.

In my opinion, it is each of our duty as gun owners to at the very least, pay basic attention to proposed initiatives and legislation. Stay educated on their contents, and vote.

Just because I don't understand all the details does not mean I didn't vote against it.
