When they catch scum like this they should just be shot, no "I give up". The only reason this happens now is so many feel they have a good shot of getting away with it. For those who have a constant hate on going for LEO's when they get pulled over stop and think. The one pulling you over has also seen this. They have no way of knowing if you are some Joe going home who did something wrong, or if you are scum like this.

Wow did they not know it was a machine gun? Maybe they need to watch a few episodes of the TV show, "Combat".

That's some major pucker factor there.

"Partner, WTF was that?"

What is said when you're no longer recruiting military vets in your police departments.

This happened on July 3rd. 9 p.m. on a slow Wednesday night.

"On July 12, 2024, Los Angeles Police arrested 31-year-old Malcolm Guss Jr.. He is charged in case 24CMCF01337 on one count of attempted murder of a peace officer; two counts of assault with a machine gun upon a peace officer; one count of shooting at an occupied motor vehicle; one count of possession of a machine gun; and two counts of possession of firearm by a felon. During the ensuing investigation, police located and seized the Chevrolet sedan. Police also seized a firearm believed to have been involved in the crime. He was booked into police custody on $2,000,000 bail, booking number 6845941. If convicted as charged, Guss faces a maximum sentence of life in prison."

Another criminal mastermind. Kept the vehicle instead of destroying it after that, kept the gun, and of course shock of all shocks, he is already a felon. Wonder how many times they played catch and release with him? Now who wants to bet they will shop for a black robe to let him out on some kind of bail next. Meanwhile this is why we "need" more gun laws. Since the ones already on the books worked so Fing well for this case 🤬

Note: perp chose when and where to stop. Did not pull to curb. Huge red flag.
Guessing a Glock with switch as they are pouring into the country.
(EDIT) Says "AR" but basically means a black gun. Caliber? Was it a TEC-9? AR pistol?

The video comments stated full auto AR..brass found at scene

"Los Angeles, California — On July 3, 2024, around 9:00 p.m., Southeast Area uniformed patrol officers initiated a traffic stop on a white, four door sedan at Broadway and Rosecrans Avenue. The suspect's vehicle initially began to accelerate away but stopped suddenly on Broadway north of Rosecrans Avenue. Before officers could exit the police vehicle, the suspect, armed with a fully automatic weapon, fired at officers without warning. An Officer-Involved Shooting (OIS) occurred when one officer returned fire. The suspect fled the scene in the vehicle. It is unknown if the suspect was struck by gunfire. Authorities later determined the rounds were fired from a fully automatic AR-style rifle, a self-loading rifle that continuously chambers and fires rounds when the trigger is held down.

Officers attempted to follow the suspect's vehicle for approximately 200 yards but lost sight of the vehicle in the area of 135th Street and Broadway. Both officers sustained cuts and scratches from glass fragments caused by the suspects rounds striking the police vehicle windshield, with one officer receiving two graze wounds to his head. Los Angeles Fire Department personnel transported the officers to a local hospital where they were treated for their injuries and released the following morning. Numerous rifle casings from the suspect's weapon were recovered from the scene. No other officers or citizens were injured during the incident.

Does it mention the caliber? I stopped watching at the point that they made several potentially fatal mistakes. 1) It's Los-freaking-Angeles. 2) Assuming it was merely a DUI or reckless driver, leaving them in condition white. 2) Not ordering the perp to pull to the curb. 3) Not waiting and watching the driver's actions before exiting their car. 4) Approaching in condition white with little or no intel on the car or known operators. 5) This explains the disconnected response and confusion, which allowed the perp to escape. 6) Had the perp stepped out instead of blasting through the rear window, we would have two LAPD funerals. 7) Perp had the advantage, as the officers walked into a attempted homicide thinking it was a traffic violation.

Thus, they are very fortunate to be alive.

To me, what the video clearly points out is that many of the new breed of cops these days are pretty complacent and definitely not expecting the worst.

Let's not sugar-coat this. These cops were not well-trained and were totally complacent and caught off-guard.

I always approached ANY vehicle stop as if it would escalate to a felony hot stop in a half-second. And my partners were always ready.

DA Gascon will release him w/o bail and refuse to prosecute…. just watch and see if he doesn't.

I'll keep my personal thoughts on the video to myself but, I agree with @Old Dog on his comment. Just from the dialog, the officers seemed to lack training on how to handle that situation. They were so slow getting their wits together, they lost the perps! The one officer shouldn't have needed to be told to get back in the car!

All do respect to the both of you...

I'm not sure any police agency would be training their traffic cops in a way that would prepare them for a full auto rifle being sprayed out the back window of a vehicle.

This is straight movie status...

I will say though, there is a definite personal awareness they are lacking. As @Old Dog mentioned, he treated every stop with the expectation of it going south. Can't really train that... especially to this extent.
