45/70
The .45-70 rifle cartridge, also known as .45-70 Government, was developed at the U.S. Army's Springfield Armory for use in the Springfield Model 1873, which is known to collectors as the "Trapdoor Springfield." The new cartridge was a replacement for the stop-gap .50-70 Government cartridge, which had been adopted in 1866, one year after the end of the American Civil War.
Time to acknowledge I'm no longer hunting, so this one has to go. Marlin 45/70 Guide Gun, ported, with Wild West rear peep and trigger. Cross bolt safety is locked by the interior factory set screw but is simple to disengage for the "belt and suspenders" type not hunting large mammals with...
"JM" marked but stamped poorly , 1895CB SOLD Marlin in 45/70. Made in 2004 so there's no way it was a Remington gun, with a 26" tapered oct. barrel. Blue is not new but close, several small "safe ding" dents in the uncheckered wood. Bore is very nice.
Only trade interest would be a Uberti...

26" barrel, leupold scope mount, the twist kind. Long stock and balances really well. Great straight grained Monte Carlo stock, modern trigger, safety configured for scope use, open sights, sling studs, no serial number, just a bunch of hieroglyphics. These can shoot loads approaching 458 win...

This was my elk gun for a couple of seasons, and I had big plans of threading the barrel and getting a hybrid on the end, but kids and life will put a stop to that for a few more years. She has sat for a year with no food so time to go a new home.
