Your thoughts on preparation

It may sound wacked, but even if a guy was to have a 22lr and put a lot of rounds down range, it would be cheap, lots of ammo available and would still hurt. Thoughts?

Don't think it's wacked at all. I sure wouldn't wan't to charge a good shooter with a semi auto 22lr with large cap. mag. I like your idea in fact.

Back to the topic at hand - I've certainly been buying ammo and other items (food, water, etc.) with an eye toward "what happens if things fall apart". I've also been thinking about my gun collection in terms of what can I lend to other people, what will operate w/o too much hassle & maintenance, what would I really use in a tough situation. Someone on here posted <broken link removed> about a person who lived through the collapse of Argentine economy in 2001 - I think it has some good things to think about.

I've even considered buying some gold, but I still haven't figured out how you exchange gold for whatever you want - how many gallons of gas or chickens is my one-ounce gold coin worth? Hard to say.

Even though it was politics that got us here today You just want to talk preperations for the crash. Unless you fix the politics then all your preps are for nothing

Note to those who are into preps, alot of people are doing the same thing so unless you are willing to make a "preps Race " (like an arms race) odds are you don't have the time, money and space to have enough to be the last man standing.

Do you really want to live in a world that everyone lives in a family bunker watching their neighbors starve and their country going to ****??? Maybe you better do something about those in office before it goes that far, call em and tell em.

I have six kids at home. I want them to live no matter what.

It does some good but only if you are firm. If you call Defazio and tell him you have six kids and you fear for their future so you are bunkering down with food, guns and ammo then I am sure he will get the message. If nothing else your conseince will be free.

If you decide to prepare you must understand your enemy and what is to come.The socialist are useing crisis mentality to drive the country toward socialism. I won't go into socialism in depth but a good example is the nazi socialist of Germany, that is where they are taking you.

Technology today is such that all your preps unless done with cash are recorded. Should SHTF strike then government will use that knowledge to confiscate your goods and share them with their friends. All isn't without hope cause there are not enough people to gather your stuff so only the guys who made the mistake of buying enough to get on the list will be the losers.

Make a plan as to where you want to be and what it will take to get there. Study self sufficientcy and build a support group at the same time. I tend to ramble a bit so I am going to stop here.

Banning politics on a forum devoted the gun politics? Mistake and impossible. The two are so entwined that to have one without the other would be the sound of one hand clapping. The free exchange of differing politics are what bring together people of differing opinions, common ground can be achieved as a result. Sure there will be flare ups and personal attacks need to be quashed but often enlightenment and education also result.

Examples:

Good:
Demo's/Republics are sheeple

Acceptable:
Demo's/Republics are Idiots

Bad:
"You" are a stupid Leftwing/Rightwing A**hole

I am getting old, when I was young I was a survivalist so it looks like it worked My plan isn't what a young mans plan is. I don't stockpile anymore cause I plan to die right here. Why would I build up a pile of stuff for someone else??

I have been selling off all my stuff. It was good to get me here but times are ending and there isn't any need for it. Reminds me of one of my favorite survivalist Mel Tappen. He was the best ever and had it all figured out to the last seed to plant. He died of cancer before anything ever happened

If I were a young man then I would get educated in the ways of a survivalist, it would help more than you can figure out. Then I would build self reliance in my family so government doesn't take them from you.

Survival is all politics. Governments have killed more of their peoples than any and all natural disasters. If people would only realize that guns, survival and politics are closely linked then the discussions would be open. Politcs will destroy a man in worse ways than a gun. Just watch how the latest socialism is played out, people are going to suffer.

This guy (James Wesley, Rawles) is how I found this site and he wrote a book called Patriots, Surviving The Coming Collapse. I thought it was damn good.
