You know what, you're right!
I don't hang out in high schools or colleges..
Im too busy working and running a business to pay the taxes that those above mentioned degenerates depend upon.

Be it the children they pop out from multiple partners or the asinine studies they pursue as a minor/major that leaves them jobless right out of college.
Or perhaps the indoctrination of entitlement they pick up in those four short years that makes them a living hell to work with that in the end is the catalyst for them losing their said job.

I stand by what I said.
Though this "up and coming" generation idolizes looking like thug scum or trailer trash..
They dress how they act.. With little to no thought of the future and an attitude that no employer would want to hire.

They don't work hard, they don't contribute and they don't produce anything.. Well, other than a larger voter base (children) for the socialists.

Wow, bro. You've got a serious disconnect with reality. There's always been punks, there will always be punks. And it'll always be that the rest of society, even the upcoming generation, will mostly consist of generally good, productive people. I've been in and out of college for the last 12 years, and I've studied with this generation. They're studying engineering, law, project management, business, cooking, etc., etc.,... and they're getting jobs and paying taxes. This generation is going to pay your medicare and social security, once you've eaten through all those canned beans and sold off all those cases of ammo.

What generation are YOU from? The 50s? 60s? 70s? Those wonderful generations that brought us militant feminism, abortion, sexual relativism, drugs, and disrespect for tradition and authority?

Tell me something... what did you wear when you were a kid? Did you wear jeans and a t-shirt? Did you wear short pants? Did you wear anything that had ever been perceived by previous generations as being the attire of degeneration? Do you realize that EVERY generation since the birth of the industrial revolution has pretty much been perceived as the "one that'll do us all in?"

I'd tell you to wake up, but really, you should just get out of the way.

Despite your prejudices, the government will be raping us young'uns to pay for your social security checks for the next 40 years. Don't forget to say thank you!

You and I wont have social security when we get older.
The gov will collapse and SS will be no more, they'll also raid our 401ks and later (more difficult) our IRAs.

Hey I don't disagree with that, but the fetid statism ruining this country is entirely the fault of the older generation who bought the "government is us" crap. So give the young people a break, they never even had a chance to dissent. The Boomers actually chose Big Brother and liked it.

By the way there are far more young libertarians than old libertarians. Three cheers for us?

You're a funny guy. Ive read your previous posts on other threads.. I know where you stand.
We obviously don't see eye to eye on this subject. However, my opinion has formed over time and for good reason..
I could carry this on, however it wouldn't be productive nor a good use of my valuable time.

Give that frat guy or that saggy pants thug we've been talking about a cool "bro" handshake fist bump hug thing you guys are so fond of for me.
Take care.

Perhaps dmancornell can explain to us why, if there are so many libertarians in the younger generation, the tech industry is so heavily liberal in both financial and volunteer support?

Have you been to a Ron Paul event lately? 90% of his supporters are under 35.

We have always outnumbered by morally deprived statists, but the libertarian movement today is far more potent than it was 20 years ago.

maybe because the older generation is still in control of the administrative decisions.

Tech industry as in computers, hardware, and software, including internet. The industry that has a reputation for attracting the smart, creative, and motivated part of the younger generation.

Well who's donating to the leftists? The older management cadre or the rank and file?

I work in the tech and the higher management are the same the world over, elitist holier-than-thou authoritarians who gravitate towards statism. Textbook pro-government types. The people who actually work tend not to be like that.

Just making sure before I chime in.

I realize my experience is narrow as Im just one guy. I am 34 ( started in my mid twenties ), I am a libertarian, and I work IT for a fortune 500 company. I realize there seems to be alot of money from big " tech" companies going into the pocket of liberal causes.

Whats funny about this is in my experience in working with software engineers, support personnel, and project management is everyone I know is pretty dang conservative, with a few libertarians thrown into the mix. These of course are just the folks in my circle.

The CEO of my prior company was a combat vietnam veteran, definitely not a liberal in the sense of Ginny Burdick.

In fact, my boss and a co worker were the 2 people I listed as references for my Oregon non resident CHL, and oddly enough the Sheriffs department did in fact contact them both. That made for interesting discussion. :D

I would classify my current boss as a libertarian. Most of these folks are not fresh out of school young, neither am I.

Maybe my experience is not the norm, I don't know. One thing interesting to note is alot of the folks in my circle are life long californians, as was I. We were also in the belly of the beast, the SF bay Area.

Just my .02

Pre-judging people is a basic instinct. You judge people by the way the dress, walk and talk for a reason- usually it is from past experiences- but the point is is that it keeps you alive.

Scenario: Deciding to go another route when a group of hispanic teenagers (all wearing red) are "hanging out" on the street corner isn't being racist or close-minded...it's being smart and careful.

I'm in a similar position and have noticed similar things in my company.

I've taken some shooting. They don't mind guns but they'll still vote for the grabbers because of other points. Guns don't matter to others as much.

I consider myself a libertarian. I have huge problems with the platform and the positions representatives in each party take. Firearms play a huge part in my decision making process but I still have a big problem with my other liberties getting stomped on by a pro 2A congress critter.

The most mind-boggling thing about this statement is that I bet you don't consider yourself a racist.

I swear, if I had limitless wealth, I'd pay members of this board to attend a class about race, ethnicity, and bigotry. The lack of perspective around here is sometimes astounding.

You are THAT afraid? Wow.
