A couple decades ago I inherited my grandfather's Colt 1911. No round in the chamber, but the magazine was loaded with seven rounds of USGI ball ammo dated 1930. I've always wondered where he got it and how long it had been in there, because the ammo was older than the gun, and almost as old as he was. The ammo shot fine, but I wouldn't want to bet my life on it.
