I have taken off my pistol brace and put spring and buffer tube with a Magpul stock. I have also taken off my pistol upper and have disposed of it. I now have a spare lower that I can use for my 16" or longer upper receivers that I already own.

My non lawyer understanding is you will be fine.

Possession is not outlawed. You are the "maker", not the manufacturer. You're making an "assault weapon" out of a pre existing "assault weapon." it doesn't get more assault-y going from pistol to rifle.

But the big one is, that ATF is "ruling" that you can use the factory engravings because it was already an SBR, and you aren't making anything.

I did mine all through silencer shop, cost me $50 for each. But wondering if that is why I got them back faster? The two amnesty ones were 40-55 days, the regular one was 19 days. I know that there are some guys that have been waiting since January.
