Two drivers traded shots this afternoon in a Tukwila road-rage incident that sent one man to Harborview Medical Center with a serious gunshot wound.

Tukwila police say that just before 5 p.m., one driver, who was upset that a car had pulled over in the 10700 block of 47th Avenue South, left his vehicle and banged on the window of the other car with a gun in his hand.

The driver in the parked car also had a gun and, after a verbal confrontation, the drivers shot at each other and then fled.

Police responding to reports of gunfire found one driver not far from the shooting scene with a gunshot wound to the shoulder, which was initially reported by KING 5 as life-threatening. That driver has since been stabilized at Harborview Medical Center, according to the Tukwila Police Department.

Police say they have contacted both parties and that everyone is cooperating with an ongoing investigation.

I'd normally agree with you but with how far bullets can travel I'd like to think distance is your friend. The further you get away from the guy shooting at you, the safer you become. Police like to release these police reports, so it makes someone sound bad if they don't stick around while they're getting shot at.... especially if they had to shoot back. Because they release these police press reports before they have a full picture of what actually happened. Notice this news report was written less than 2 hours after the shooting took place. Which means the police released a report much sooner than that. This allows the police to pick and choose whoever they want to appear as the bad guy, from whatever evidence they gather &/or choose to ignore.

So what would you do if you were stuck in bumper to bumper traffic (not saying that's what happened here) and the guy in front of you gets out and starts walking towards you with a gun? At what point do you draw your own weapon? I know if my family is in the car it is sooner than later. Driving away is probably the best option but what if there's no escape route?

I would make sure he was coming for me.. then I would send some rounds right through the windshield of my car.. Might be deaf, but I wouldn't be waiting for him to start pulling the trigger before me. Especially if I had any family in the car.. They come first.

Exactly. They call themselves Progressives, which is good because they are in no way liberals. A true liberal is what Dwaine described. These modern day Progressives tend to take the equality bit too far in that they don't stop at equal rights. This aggressive new push for "redistribution of wealth" would be recognized by a classic Liberal as irrational. Most of the left wingers that you see on TV are Progressives or, even worse - politicians.

I was at Threat Dynamics on Mon. with a couple guys. I always have fun and learn a little something each time I go. This time however, one of the instructors kept driving home his point that you can't use deadly force unless someone points a firearm at you first. I was always trained that if a person has intent, means and opportunity then I can use whatever force is necessary to stop that person from hurting me; up to and including deadly force. So I respectfully disagreed. If a person is having a road rage moment and displays a firearm, I am not waiting to act until after I am looking down the barrel of a gun.

Liberal and progressive is the same thing. There is a big difference in liberal and libertarian. Liberals have one foot in the communist marxist pot and the other in the socialist pot. 2/3 of them dont even comprehend that.
