You didn't pose a particular argument in your post so I had to improvise. What I said was...
1. Arguing with a lefty is academic. They are by default, correct and you are wrong before you open your mouth. One point to make, if not an argument per se, is: does it bother her at all that society seems to be filled with mass murderers and not one of them is an NRA member? Murderers everywhere! Not a problem?

2. Weapons of war? Well, her cherished 1st Amendment was bought and paid for at a price in blood and using the "weapons of war" the Revolutionary War, to be exact.

3. But, it is a losing proposition, as they are arrogant and self-assured. Get a rise by telling her that due to the fake news epidemic, the first amendment needs strong restrictions and governmental oversight.

4. Forget the 2nd and divert the debate to the 1st Amendment.

Ultimately, no logic, no reason, no evidence, no proof will suffice where one party is unwilling to argue. The fact that her position is fascist has nothing to do with it.

It would be smart I think, to frame the question as not left v. right, Green, Libertarian, Democrat, Republican, Socialist, etc., but more along the lines of Pro2A and Anti2A.

You will find Anti2A people in the GOP -- three gun-control-signing GOVERNORS immediately come to mind (FL, VT, and MD). You will also find Pro2A people in every other non-GOP demographic out there too, including people like me.

Anyway, it is always easier to get people to vote with you when you don't actively insult them -- the Pro/Anti framing is useful in that it does not paint with a broad prejudiced brush, but is instead objective, accurate, and doesn't insult the people you want on your side with respect to the gun issue.

When I really got into shooting, friends would ask what was my attraction to "weapons of death" was. I explained it was a tool, designed for killing. Nothing more. I would add, "once you accept that, your perception of good vs. evil changes. You recognize it's the holder who makes the difference."
I suspect the interest in throwing rocks, spears, arrows, and other projectiles is actually part of our genetics at this point. When a behavior is an essential part of a species survival strategy, evolution usually selects the species to have a drive to do that thing and to enjoy it. I speculate that football, baseball, and every other game involving a ball are actually play forms of exercise of our drive to throw and aim projectiles. Some of us find the exercise of our aiming and throwing drive especially satisfying when in a form that is closest to the underlying drive, that actually is effective in providing protection or food. So we enjoy guns and shooting.

Not to mention she says all the tragedies during the GWB presidency were all inside jobs.

Paranoia to the point of insanity is not the exclusive purveyance of any political party. It IS a nice hat.

The problem is worse than that. These days we see increasing numbers of people who don't believe in the reality of reality. They call it "postmodernism". They don't believe in facts, science, rationality, or rational discourse. They think they are completely free to believe anything they want without regard for any kind of objective truth, and all that matters is power. Who has the power, including the power to yell the loudest or make sure other voices aren't heard. I suspect part of why the reality deniers hate guns so much is that they are a hard display of reality that is difficult to deny. That is, deep down inside, the reality denier knows a gun firing bullets at their head will injure or kill them, whatever they say they believe or don't believe about guns, bullets, or reality.

Yes, 'postmodernism' as well as 'moral relativism' is a huge problem right now. I first read a book on the subject back in the mid-90's, which opened my eyes to the direction we were heading. We're each supposedly to determine what our own truth is - no absolute standards. Funny thing is, everyone that claims to deny absolute truths/standards can always be shown that they do believe in them. For example, you can really never find a person that believes murder is okay, which means there is some kind of moral absolute, yet they'll quickly let something like that slide by. Not only murder, but rape, theft/robbery, sexual assault of children, etc - it's a near universal truth that people around the globe accept - and they don't know why. To some of us, we would consider that to be evidence of objective truth/morality - something transcendent of us - and yet no one can answer why we all seem to accept the same universal truths. Of course that's a conversation for philosophers and religious folks, but it leaves us in the place where folks simply seem to have a hard time grasping that there are certain truths that go far deeper than what any individual thinks or feels.

I will solve this PROBLEM right now tell them your going on a road trip to the desert .
Lol I don't know tell them to look at the stars or something maybe the weeds .
But make sure you have the hole already dug and the shovel close by .
Oh did I forget to mention your talking said libral out to the desert to help us all out .
And to kill and buried him or her .LOL JUST SAYING

Whoa, dude, not funny. Not funny at all.

During the 70 year occupation of the Ukraine by the Soviets, there was a saying: Why don't Ukrainians water their flowers? Because they don't want their (buried) rifles to rust."

It should be simple...
Since I am a law abiding US citizen...Who the Hell are you to tell me what guns I can own or not own...?

If you do not want to own a particular firearm , or not own any...then fine and dandy , for you...No one is making you own one.
The Bill of Rights , is all about choices....you are free to chose from and for many things... But no where does it say that someone can make my choice for me....

Hey all, over the weekend the subject of school shootings came up we a relative that is so far left she's upside down. She told me that myself and those who own the dreaded "AR47 and AK15" yes I know the difference she does not. We have no right owning these weapons of war. And that those who do have no feeling of sorrow, remorse or care that people are being killed with these guns. I don't even try to argue these points with her. She also believes all Republican politicians should be in prison. And that hillary and obama did all they could in Benghazi and that there was no time to get help there.

This is why I make it a general rule to not tell people I own firearms, much less what kinds of firearms. For people like that there is no changing their minds, and if/when it comes time for confiscation, these are the kind of people who will volunteer any info they can to the authorities. I am well aware that the gov. knows some of what I have, but I do not see any reason to make their job any easier or to argue with people who are lost in their views.

I like your brain and the way it works. Good observation

I like that analogy!

Additionally, football combines two drives... throwing and capturing the other guys land! No wonder we (used to) like football.

Guns in the hands of the population are not weapons of war but tools to keep the peace. We do not wage war on our neighbors but use the best tools available against criminals. The police use them and so do we against the same criminals.

Ask your relative why it's ok for the police to have weapons of war.

Let's be honest, progressives are perfectly fine with arms of all types so long as they are under control; i.e. government control, i.e. their control. Firearms in the hands individuals means by default those guns will be used for the wrong reason. In the same way the economy must be controlled because people will make the wrong decisions. Schools must be controlled because the wrong subjects will be taught.

Football also includes blocking and tackling, which are like physically assaulting and capturing the enemy. And it requires group cooperation and tactics, something presumably required when humans hunted animals much bigger than themselves, such as mammoths.
