I came across a book recently; Left Of Bang, based on the USMC Combat Hunter Program.

It talks about this very thing, how to pick out potential problems before they happen.

Contrary to the political correctness thing, one must profile and do it well. Most everyone does it most everyday...unfortunately this day and age it has become a necessity. How one acts on it, can be the potential problem.

As a rule of thumb up here, if the person has a healthy BMI and is riding a bike without tights, they are on meth.

Sometimes I'm not quit sure how to act?

''Profiling'' myself usually give me the answers I need.

This is a excellent idea...I teach my students to do this.
As in :
Is what I am doing or saying , expected behavior for the situation that I am in...?
How are others reacting to what I am saying or doing...?
This can help them react appropriately in a given situation.

Also taking "stock" of oneself at times is a good healthy practice.
Being aware of just what our limits are , "triggers" , etc...can go a long way in preventing trouble.

Whenever I'm in a parking lot of any kind, eyes constantly moving and looking, on a swivel that is, and I also keep looking behind me.

The 'old, he came out of nowhere' is said because people forget to pay attention to what's going on behind them.
