Are you referring to shotgun shot of a known size? If so, shotgun shot is usually sold in 25 pound bags, and sells for up to $40/bag in retail stores. I think people can usually purchase it for less, say around $25/bag on sites like this one.

Check your local range, they are always selling the recycled lead shot for reasonable prices. I picked up 50# and passed it along a few months back for $1/lb
