Bump fire typically has a more irregular and slower rate of fire than actual full auto. This sounded more like full auto.

Easy, just fit one of these puppies..........

A few talking heads over here in yUK are saying that it was 500 yards. What's the REAL distance from which the shots were fired? 100 yards is STILL well within the lethal range of a .22LR.

The news has said the the gunfire lasted for approx. 4 1/2 minutes. You can dump a 100 round drum in under a minute. There were 22,000 concert goers.

Could be.

But I doubt it.

It is fairly easy to modify an AR or an AK to fire full auto if you know how to do it.

I hope these were not NFA registered firearms. If they are, as far as I know, it would be the first time they were used in a "mass shooting".

We will just have to wait and see what the weapons were. I would not go by what police and media say at first, they will rush to make statements that usually turn out to be inaccurate once the experts are able to examine the weapons.

They showed a Google Earth shot of down town Vegas. The concert venue is a block and a half from the Hotel. It was across the main strip and about a half block farther. I am not trying to argue with you Tac. But it was much more than a .22lr fire arm.

My wrong, I wrote in an earlier post that he had been shot by the police. Now seems that the desert-dwelling loner shot himself.

Now why could he not have done that in the peace and quiet of his own shack, and spared all these innocent lives?

I agree, My comments about .22 were based on uninformed hearsay across the ocean.

To go out in a blaze of infamy.

We - the public - and the media - make a huge deal out of these events, and some crazy people want to go out like that. They blame the world, and they want to show the world what they think of us and they know that they will go down in history.

I am cynical and I think most humans are stupid and mean and selfish. I know the world would be a paradise without humans on it. But I have no grievance against people in general, and I wish them no harm - I just wish that people would wise up.

Mass shooters feel they have been wronged and they target who they think wronged them.

ABC news just showed the window where he was shooting from. The windows do not open and he just shot through the window. he was only 4 floors from the top of the hotel.

It is totally unclear what rifles he had. Some reports says full-auto, possibly belt-fed. Other reports say long-distance rifles, which by definition would probably mean bolt action, scoped rifles.

One type is precision and slow. The other type is suppressive, high-volume fire. Very different setups.

Ladies and gentleman of the forum...
I encourage you all to stay safe when out and about.
Think about where you are going and always keep an eye on the most covered , concealed and shortest route to an exit , wherever you go or are at.
If you are able to help those in the immediate area to safety or first aid , do so ... but remember to watch out for yourself and family as well.
( I dislike being selfish here ... but I want to come home and sad to say at times , strangers may come in second place to this desire to get home. )

I do not pretend to know or understand just what drives people to such evil and horrifying actions.
I also worry about us as a nation being able to heal and come together after such tragic events.
That said...
Reading of individuals who shielded others , provided first aid or helped others to escape is heartening to hear.

Was thinking about that just yesterday. My wife and I took our daughter and a friend to see Cirque du Soleil in Portland. I carried into the event (they checked purses and bags, nothing more) and spent some time before the show getting a good look at the exits - multiple routes, if something were to happen. Problem is mob panic when such an event occurs - leaving throngs of panic stricken people clumped at the exits unable to get out. In such an event, looking for some good cover may be the best choice - and there were numerous places I could see to take cover if it were necessary. Either way, I really don't care much for big events/soft targets like that. There was obviously no armed security, and not a single LE on site, so if something bad had gone down, we'd have been on our own. I can't help but think how easy it would be for someone to just walk into the tent and start firing on the crowd - it's sad we have to think of such things, but it is an unfortunate reality, thankfully though, an uncommon one.

How disgusting, what a POS!!! To me the sound is of a hand crank add on. Especially as the second round of gunfire starts in the video... Either way, buckle up as it is going to get rocky for us 2A folks. The onslaught from the media and the left to disarm (especially if NFA or binary trigger systems were used)will be non stop for days to come.
