I also think that the "rioters" of the contemporary times are far different than those of LA '92. In that there are factions of the contemporary "rioting" movement that may be far better armed and organized than that of the past. Including donning full kit and such. It would make for a much more interesting battle. But, as we all may know, having the high ground has particular advantages.
I've also seen stories of the contemporary "rioters" calling the police on those they are against, despite their wanting them defunded and all.:s0136:🌎

I think if the same exact situation happened today the result will be the same.

You cannot underestimate the strength that the Asian community has here on the west coast.

Then there was little to no police response. Now there is even less likely to be a police response.
I do my best to never underestimate anyone...or any situation.

Again...the main points of my first post here are :

The situation will vary depending on where you are at.
Just 'cause something worked out well once....does not mean that it will do so again.

And just to clear here....
I am not saying to not defend yourself or property....far from it.
I am saying do so smartly...and understand that consequences of you doing so....may not all be what you expect.

If you called the police during this riot, no one was coming. no matter what color you were no one was coming!
During the summer of Love [2020] cities like Yucaipa Ca, citizens turned out in mass armed and ready to repel rioters. When the busses of mostly peaceful protesters saw riflemen on roofs and armed homeowners in every yard, The busses just kept rolling right on out of town.
There were several smaller towns that took this approach, But I know people in Yucaipa.
The reason we have no riots in my area is people here will shoot back. And the sheriff is not wasting time looking for the homeowner.
The difference between Korea town and Yucaipa was the rioters actually tested the resolve of the Roof Top Koreans. The Mostly Peaceful Protesters saw the locals and decided to move on.
Even in Kenosia WI after shooting three people KR tried to turn himself to police, They told him to go home. They were not going down into that mess.
In a riot, You are on your own. What a prosecutor does later may cost you, but at that moment you are on your own. DR

Another example is estacada. When the rioters were toppling statue after statue in the Portland area they eventually moved to suburbs and small towns. When they went to estacada for a demonstration (I don't recall where in town it was but someone here may know) a group of farmers etc showed up with shotguns and kindly escorted them out of town. Totally peaceful. As I recall the protestors had a specific place or statue or something (I don't recall) they were after. Maybe someone here was there. I was not but heard it from someone who was.

I literally just editing my comment to say just that! It's subterfuge.
Well, no. Either a substantial number of armed businesses survived the riots or they did not. It isn't really an opinion as much as a researchable fact.

It isn't even a statistic. There couldn't have been more than a few hundred Korean businesses total, so you could literally list the ones that were defended and if they were looted or burned.

The rioters that hit Korea town were well armed gangsters I don't think donning full kit would make them any more or less dangerous. a load carrying vest or full kit would just make them easier to ID and focus on. Gangsters are well used to gang warfare.
Calling the police during the riot did exactly nothing for the Korean shop owners. what do you think the police would do if the rioters called to say "Those Shop owners are shooting back at us!" DR

3 OGs could probably scatter a dozen typical larpers in seconds. There's no comparison.

In today's world, the cops would be arresting the shop owners while watching rioters loot and destroy their stores.

I think in todays world the cops would still be doing their cop thing, But a few days later some dirt bag DA might try and charge them. But during the riot that DA was far away from the bullets that are flying. DR
