Ain't what it use to be.Dont go
That's my take on Portland. I realize there's lot of potential problems with Vegas but i just see downside as less than here.Ain't what it use to be.
If you are moving to Vegas, prepare to embrace the suck.I'm moving to Las Vegas in near future. Does anyone have recommendations for Vegas? A site like this to connect to locals? Ranges that cater to locals and not tourists? thx.
A lot of gang problems in Vegas. They are in all of the High Schools, and many of the other schools. I left 16 years ago, and I am so glad I left before my kids got in 7th grade. Also, bottom can drop out of the economy there VERY fast. Sold my $50k house for $300k after owning it for 11 years. 2 years later it sold at auction for 26k. Now worth about $180k. Water is a very important thing there. Either to much or to little (thunderstorm warnings are no joke, and should be taken very seriously). If I had to do it over again, I would have bought a place in Overton. Just due to the ease of the drive to work at the time. Now, you could not pay me enough to live there. I do agree with the above post. The desert SW is beautiful. If I had my druthers, I would live in Tonopah or Caliente. But not Vegas.
I haven't heard the word Tonopah in years! Ahh memories! Good ole drunken memories!I recently drove through Tonopah coming back from Phoenix, and stopped at the Tonopah Station "Casino" to grab lunch…. Wudda DUMP!
Ha, I spent some time around there.I recently drove through Tonopah coming back from Phoenix, and stopped at the Tonopah Station "Casino" to grab lunch…. Wudda DUMP!
Good and bad. Probably a wash. That's my take on Portland. I realize there's lot of potential problems with Vegas but i just see downside as less than here.
I'm paying over 5K/year in property tax while Vegas will be less than 1k. My HOA in Portland will spike next year partly thanks to insurance carriers exiting the market thanks to rioting.

Well then that explains that old moth eaten stuffed grizzly bear in the lobby that is coming apart at all the seams, LMAO!Ha, I spent some time around there.
It's close to the dod/doe test site.
Spoiler, most of Nevada is stuck in a time capsule. Not much changes decades after decades.Well then that explains that old moth eaten stuffed grizzly bear in the lobby that is coming apart at all the seams, LMAO!
That place is in a desperate need of a remodel and refresh to pull it out of the 1960s!
We have stayed there a few times, the rooms have all been re done and the beds were the most comfortable I have ever slept in for a hotel! Just don't be alarmed with the nightly blasting, you get used to it!Well then that explains that old moth eaten stuffed grizzly bear in the lobby that is coming apart at all the seams, LMAO!
