i tried the nc star 1.5x scope and mount. the mount takes the place of the plate on the left side of reciever. to keep zero, had to tighten down so hard the action would not cycle. waste of money on that one. just use iron sights

Think I finally found someone that makes a good sturdy scope mount Accuracy Systems. Now I just need to save money for it and a good scope.

Ranch rifle or not?
I found the side mounted scope mounts too high for a cheek weld, and they shot loose.
I put a Wichita sight on mine, removes the rear sight, rock solid mount.

+1 on the Wichita Mini-14 mount! Mine is a first year unit (1983) and I have never had a problem with it. Got my moneys worth for sure!
