I needed a pony so, somehow this Colt made it home with me today.😁 No idiot scratch either!

That's sweet!
She was a bit dirty on the inside but, cleaned up rather nicely. Doesn't appear to have been fired much and the seller didn't bother to clean after shooting. Frustrates me but again, was only a bit dirty.

Yeah, like you didn't use that as a reason to rip it apart and play with it. :s0112:

If it shoots any where as good as it looks, and it should, it will be a winner.
I really like that classic Government look.

My first and one of my all time favorites. I have nicer, higher-end 1911s, but this one will always be special. 2,500 rounds and she is starting to develop some real character.

Didn't want to hog the entire thread as a brand new member:)
Are you kidding me?! We love gun porn and the more you post shows us you're here to be a part of the forum and not trolling like some we've had recently! Glad to have you with us myself so, post 'em away! 😁

I almost bought one of those. How was it out of the box before you did the part fitting?
Perfect besides the extractor needed some tuning (this one is in 9mm). Fit and finish better than my recent Colt acquisitions, on par with recent Springfield productions.

Probably not great because he had to do some parts fitting :p
The part fitting I did was entirely aesthetic besides the loosey goosey extractor ;)

It has been my experience that any production 1911 may need minor tweaking to get a fully reliable firearm. While entirely possible to get a perfectly in spec production gun (my Loaded above is one such example), production guns often need extractor tuning at a bare minimum to achieve the amazing reliability that 1911s are capable of.

When you buy semi-custom and custom, you drastically reduce the chances of needing to tune your gun. However, the 1911, being an old world design, often still needs that minutiae in fitting parts to achieve its full potential even from a semi-custom manufacturer.

All that said, this is the first 1911 I've actually had to mess with to achieve 100% reliability, and I own several production guns from Tisas, Springfield, and Colt.

YMMV.
