Are blank rounds less loud compared real rounds for a shotgun or a pistol? Who thinks these things up? Hopefully they will give everybody ear plugs. It won't be realistic since when a real shooting occurs there will be no ear plugs or anything.

Sorry @AndyinEverson for putting you on the spot but it's kinda crazy that MOST teachers.
Don't want to do basic self defense classes.
Hell they had a shooting last night at a football game in Everett .
And the response was EVERYONE GET DOWN.

Why wouldn't it be a good thing for a drill to be as realistic as possible? Isn't that the purpose of drills?

And even though everyone will be aware it's a drill, certain kids who are sensitive for whatever reason should not be on site.

When we do fire drills, should we light some fires (in safe containers) - or set off some smoke ?

Looks like this may already occurred on the 13th. But if it hasn't...

I would make sure my child was absent that day, for a multitude of reasons, including the fact that something could go very, very wrong. The proximity of training exercises and real life events is something else to take into consideration...

Just sayin'
