I am not much for words but I put my 2 cents in. If things go south at least I know I spoke out.

Turns out that if SB 719 is only including Amendment #5, then it's just the expanded protective order and violation of ones second amendment rights. They pulled everything else out of it.
That also have included all the testimony from SB 868 into the record for SB 719... I also understand that today is the last day for bills to get out of committee, if that's the case, this could very well die in committee before the day is over.
I'm rattling Peter Courtney to not assault people Civil Rights, the we don't need no Brownshirt neighbor surveillance. If someone is a threat or risk, they should be provided with the appropriate help, otherwise removing firearms does nothing and makes no sense... There's still hammers, knives, baseball bats and Lord know what else to bring bodily harm to oneself or others...
I absolutely agree, I wish they'd address the homeless issue, or perhaps mental health... Wait perhaps more pressing would be the budget, considering they may lose federal block grants due to "sanctuary" status.Let's hope the bill dies a public and painful (for Prozanski, et al) death in committee. There are so much more pressing issues to deal with in this state right now - these bills are laws in search of a virtually non-existent problem. They are wasting precious time on such minuscule, yet harmful (to Oregonians) rights just to placate the MAGS, Bloomberg, etc.
The Senate Judicial Committee is scheduled to reconvene at 5:00 PM today to vote on moving SB 719 out of committee, thus letting it live on to eventually see a full vote...
Another round of calls and emails is certainly called for from our side... I'm busy lighting them up!!!!
Absolutely agree... The wife and I just sent out our emails and I'm actively calling those on the judicial committee, we need to keep the pressure up folks....Like lets not address the housing crises, homelessness or drugs, let's focus on taking guns from people without due process.
At least the bill to restrict CHL's is gone, but none the less I agree with you more phone calls and emails are needed.
While I agree with all of the arguments against this bill, I will say that I am surprised that this is all that is being processed out of Oregon's socialist legislature. Last year I expected AR and Mag bans would be thrown at us. That did not come to pass. It seems that those in power in Salem might have finally figured out that Gun Control is not popular in Oregon or the rest of the country for that matter, so they are picking away at the fringes to keep the Bloomberg $ flowing without risking the wrath of of many Oregonians. Gun Control did not work out very well for Hillary. Maybe they figured out it would not work very well for them either. Or perhaps I am just being optimistic at what they have planed next.
We're not out of the woods until the session ends in July. There's may ways for them to add the uglyness to bills that have made it out of committee... So we must stay diligent...I've kind of been wondering the same thing. They still hold the majority (no longer the super majority), so they should still be able to pull off some serious anti-gun bills. Maybe we haven't seen the last of it yet - I know I won't rest for the year until this session ends.
