Fine idea Andy!! Billboards along every freeway with the pictures of normal gun-owning folks.
Maybe a subset of pictures of people who have protected themselves with a gun.

Thankfully this young man had a different upbringing and was able to be strong and brave when the time came. I do hope he finds peace with what he had to do and I do hope that some folks may get the message that criminals may just end up like these 3 fools.

I figured this one was going to set off the media. So today I looked at one of the BIG outlets. Sure enough headline, "Shooting of teens with assault rifle may test Stand your ground laws"
You of course have to read a WAY into it till they admit these "teens" were armed wearing gloves and masks. The media just goes nuts when an evil black rifle is used to take out some bad guys and the good guys are fine. I have to assume the dobads were all not a protected minority. Otherwise the headline would have included the race of the dead scum.[/QUOTE]
You are right the media is going too go nuts but one thing that I think everyone has forgotten is this is going to be CALLED A MASS SHOOTING WITH A ASSAULT RIFLE even though it was a self defense case when the FBI satistics come out this will be counted as a mass shooting

I found a unicorn. The Washington Post covered this story.

Three burglars entered an Oklahoma home. The owner's son opened fire with an AR-15, deputies say.

Fact based and the only hint of "well couldn't he have..............???" is found in the comment section. We may never know if the intruders followed his commands, or what move they made that caused him to open fire. It is not the young man's job to justify his move to me or anybody else, but the law enforcement officers that responded. If they determine it was self defense then I believe he made the right choice.

I am pleased to see a left leaning news organization cover a story that appears to be the responsible use of a firearm in a self defense situation. I hope the young man gets the support he needs after this event.

Me thinks that BenGuarino will be looking for employment as soon as Bloomberg gets wind of this fact based story with no liberal whining points loaded into it...:eek::eek::eek::rolleyes:

Have they released any information about the dead guy's like where there from names AND HOW MANY TIME'S THEY HAVE BEEN ARRESTED AND RELEASED

Since they were juveniles I doubt they will. There was a 4th, he was the driver. They have arrested him and charged him with murder. Since he is the only one living he will of course try to blame everything on the other 3 and claim he had no idea and such. I VERY much doubt this was the first for this trio of scum. They just picked the wrong house this time. Damn shame this does not happen weekly. Thin the herd a little.

Well the fact that they had knife brass knuckles mask gloves and a getaway driver shows intention THEY WERE NOT THERE FOR A FRIENDLY CONVERSATION

YEP he didn't know what they where going to do when they got out of the car with mask and gloves LOL. They those for the cold WHAT'S THE TEMP IN OKLAHOMA 75 DEGREES LOL

I'm curious if the 19 year old knew the suspects....

Follow up news reports about the arrest of the 21 year old female getaway driver, Elizabeth Rodriquez, have reported that the police believe that she knew this family. In fact, in their probably cause statement, police alleged that it was she who actually planned and organized the burglary, and put the teenagers up to doing it. It turns out that the teens had successfully burglarized the home earlier in the day. However, Rodriquez told the boys that they did not get enough loot to sell, for her to be able to pay her rent. So she personally took them back to the house, to steal more property. That is when the shooting occurred.

She has now been charged with first degree burglary, and 3 counts of 1st degree murder.

Reports state that she was unemployed, and collecting various types of welfare assistance. Apparently she was also engaged in criminal activity, to help support herself and her children. She has never been married, but at age 21, she has already had 3 children. Her young children are now in the custody of the state.

So it turns out, this was the real mastermind behind this crime. I don't know how she got this control over these teens. Perhaps she was having sex with them.

So is this the face of evil? She certainly does seem to be an immoral person. How many years in prison does she deserve?

Here is a report from ABC News:

Woman in home invasion left accomplice for dead: police

They don't appear to have much of any record. The police are now saying that it was the 21 year old female getaway driver who actually organized the crime, and was the mastermind behind it. She was desperate to raise enough money to pay her rent for next month.

.

Is she evil?
I don't know . Evil means many different things to different people.
Certainly she is selfish , desperate and willing to to take from others to get what she wants.
( Or put others up to the stealing ... )
All of which makes for a dangerous person.

How many years should she get or just what punishment should she get?
Again not sure ... Not familiar with Oklahoma laws ... or many Federal laws.

What I am sure of is that it seems an a lot of work and planning went into this robbery.
Maybe if that amount of time and energy went into working or looking for work*....
She wouldn't be in this mess.
*Edit to add : Or any other legal means of bettering her life ...

If the story holds true, 100 years. No parole. No healthcare. Nada.

I think that one has to get free healthcare while in prison. Free housing and food too. I'm confident that is the law.

Ironically, police are saying that she planned the crime in order to raise money to pay for her rent, which was due in a few days. Now she can live rent free for a long time.

It is probably a good thing, if she is never able to see her kids or raise them.

Yup healthcare is free.

Its better than a tier 1 insurance plan, as far as specialists & procedures go. Also no waiting, bumped to the front of scheduling.

Well atleast we know from the picture and the story why she is still alive because she is lazy don't work so she got someone else to do it for her while she sat in the car eating Doritos probley mmmmmm I'll bet she's a democrat LOL

Sick, sick person. And it appears she may have little to no remorse for what she did. And I don't know what's worse - her kids growing up with her or growing up as wards of the state - either way, I doubt they ever had much of a chance, and I won't be surprised if her actions and choices will end up carrying into the next generation.

I would be curious to know how she got to where she is today. Did her parents do stupid azz stuff like this? Did she learn by watching them? Or did she derail herself without their influence? I'm always curious what leads a kid to reach a place like this. No doubt there were many markers, many poor choices along the way. It makes me wonder if things like this could have been stopped. Now 3 people are dead because of her, her 3 kids are f'd probably for life as well and the young guy that did the shooting has to live with the memory of what he had to do. Sad, sick world we live in right now.

Very good questions etrain.
I have found that with many people like her ... they often refuse to accept their role or personal responsibility in the choices they make or made.
Which can lead to many folks and agencies offering help ... but in the end not really making a difference.
Andy
