I was going to say the same thing. So long as what I do does not have a direct negative effect on the rest of society it is my business so butt out.

I made one minor change to your post so that I could agree with you 100%.

"Negative effect" is too general for me.

For instance, If I eat too much bacon I will likely get fat. Fat people have a higher risk of heart problems. Heart problems can lead to hospitalization. Hospitalization costs money. The money comes from insurance company's. Insurance company's must raise their rates to pay for the hospitalization. Society shouldn't have to pay higher insurance just because I like bacon. Bacon should be illegal.

Almost everything can have a "Negative effect" if you search hard enough for it.

Ah but it creates jobs which also help society so it may be a push on that one. Leave your mitts of mah bacon!

We may have our firearms but if you have a low paying job or no job at all, no health insurance, no home to live in and no food on the table you tend to be more than a one issue voter.

I support our RIGHT to keep and bear arms but I also know that throughout the last century the Democratic party has a better record of supporting the poor and middle class than conservative politicians. Quality of life is very important to all of us! I have voted for, and will continue to vote for Republications on an individual basis when I see one that supports not only the Constitution, but also supports ALL Americans, rich, middle class and poor equally! :s0155:

The Democrats don't support the poor, The working class supports the poor. The Democrats just capitalize on it.

Demoncrats also don't support bacon!! :s0001:

Only Libertarians truly support your right to bacon!!

Republicans pander to conservative Christians and Christianity is a spin off of Judaism and we all know Jews hate bacon because God told them they cant have it. Also bacon is often served with eggs and conservatives hate abortion. Eggs are chicken abortions.

Democrats only support socialist bacon. It must be purchased with taxpayer money via food stamps and raised on farms that are subsidised by the government. It must also be processed in factories that are constantly monitored by the DEQ, FDA, EPA and OSHA. Even then they would prefer there were no bacon because pig farts cause holes in the ozone and speed up global warming.

I don't guess anyone's minds will be changed by this thread though, if you believe Democrats are for the poor you will still believe it.

Can't say for sure if Dem's are or aren't for the poor but I can say the Repub's/Tea Party/Con's definitely aren't. Trickle down economics doesn't work. Tax cuts haven't created jobs. Shielding the ultra rich from any kind of tax implications either by not closing loopholes or essentially making the middle class keep inflation at bay seems to be the right side of the aisle's method. By opposing the raising of the debt ceiling the TP doesn't care about the poor or middle class or anyone. If they get their way on this one America will swirl around the 3rd world drain due to an ideology rather than a thoughtful examination of the issues.

Ah, the guy that uses "critical thinking" to comment on a topic he never even bothered to read and thus commented on a subject unrelated to the topic of my post returns. How's that "critical thinking" thing working out for ya? :s0112:

Consider this thought; words, they actually have meaning, they're not just inserted into sentences to be flashy. ;)

And maybe (probably) there are some of us who realize (using critical thinking skills as opossed to knee jerk reaction) that the topic at hand comes up several times a year and has for years about the UN. Someone just checked their email and decided to circulate an "all new and improved" version of the UN-gun taking crap and here we go again ... weeee!!!

First, most TEA-party activists don't vote on principle. They don't hate socialism and government theft and abuse as a rule. If they did they would have been just as exercised about socialism, big government, fascism, dubious legislative tactics, deficits and the national debt during George W. Bush's term in office. But they were silent. The greatest increases in national debt since WWII came during the presidencies of Reagan, Bush I, and Bush II. Here's the best chart I've seen illustrating national debt growth. During these decades TEA-parties were non-existent. Silence. They don't oppose Socialism on principle, they oppose the other guys' socialism. That is, they oppose socialism for causes they don't agree with at the moment.
