Sad state of affairs...somone brought up "normalcy bias" in one of the prepping threads and it reminded me of this.

...Jheryl Wright, was gunned down as he walked out the door in September 2012.

But after the 24-year-old man collapsed, several customers continued to walk in and out of the store — stepping over the wounded man’s body to get through the door.

I did this all the time in Arizona, stepping over drunk Indians who staggered into a business and took a nap on their feet. They probably see the same thing in New York all the time. Can't load the video right now, So if it's actually obvious what happened, or the dudes bleeding profusely, etc, them I retract my statement.

That is not Normalcy Bias.

It is called 'Social Proofing' aka Peer Pressure. The mentality of the herd to ignore something that others are ignoring so they won't stand out.

It fits this scenario on this person being shot and lying there, but also explains how gov gets by telling ridiculous lies to the people. Others don't seem to object so if I object too loudly I may look like a quack.

Our handlers are well aware of this basic psychology, in fact they depend on it 100% while they pull the wool over the eyes of the sheeple.

People are obsessed with being accepted by the flock, to not stand out as odd. So the next time you hear some truth you'd like to tell the world via a bullhorn don't expect an atta boy. Not going to happen.

Only messages that are acceptable to your peer group need apply.

Yes, there are about 2%, or 1 in 50 that would break the pattern and help that guy laying shot on the ground, or the heart attack victim, etc. Someone who has overcome the peer programming. 49 out of 50 will barely look down and keep walking because that is what all the others are doing.

The main stream media supports social proofing in that it convinces a person that everyone believes 'this' and it is the only sane thing to believe. If you believe 'that' - you know, something you have rationally and factually figured out for yourself - you better keep it to yourself or else.

Gun control is based on nothing more than irrational emotions.

It is the government MSM media's job to portray people that speak out for the 2A as disturbed and dangerous, or 'odd.' They do a good job of it. Do it for long enough, convince enough people and the battle has been won by them.

One's greatest fear is to be outside the herd and 'odd.'

You aren't for this? - or against this? - or you support this? -- well, everyone else does/does not ... so freak get your act together or be deemed odd. Very powerful stuff.

What? You don't believe in man made Global Warming? You freak! Everyone else does, you reject brainless twit! That is how it works folks. We are animals, sophisticated animals yes. But socially conditioned to act literally like a herd.

It is a shame that a very good majority of the populace of our once fine nation, have let this" social proofing caused by normalcy bias" happen to them.

Our gooberment has been using every possible method imaginable to bend us over and boink us for so long, to many are accepting it and not even trying to fight it. The sheeple need to be smacked!!!!

I hope everyone here does their best to try and awaken them, and to teach their kids and all who will listen what is right an how things should be!!!!!

I know we do our best to help our kids discover what is right so as to keep their moral compasses pointed right!!!!!!

the majority of people I know, went to school with, and graduated with, along with those who never graduated....their views can be summed up in this;
"if it is NOT my responsibility, it is NOT my problem, and if it is NOT my problem, then it is NOT my responsibility. It's someone else' problem, and I don't want to be held accountable for anything."

(note, these people are NOT my friends; but people I have to watch for)

No, it's not. It's called, "looking for the like button, but I'm too buzzed in the early morning, on my day off, to realized I'm not signed into the site."

+10 Burt.

The price tag of realizing something beyond "peer pressure" is incredible high for a lot of people. People want to fit in, and many times doing the "right thing" means you aren't fitting in anymore.

For me, I'm taking the low road.
And yes,
I'll get to Scotland afore ye
Because I'm not worried about the price tag, usually.

I think what a lot of you guys are looking for is a psychological condition called Cognitive dissonance. It's basically a person not trying to go outside of what they feel is the norm with society- to check on the guy to see if he needs help, and if so to provide aid or call for help. Cognitive dissonance is a bi-product of the Normalcy Bias.

Basically, the thought process is "because nothing bad has happened before you went to work or get gas, then nothing bad will happen this time."

For example, during the 9/11/01 attacks, many people didn't evacuate the towers until they checked with their other coworkers. Some even re-entered the building to shut off their computers!

People didn't accept their situation, despite warning signs around them...they, instead, looked to their peers to ensure everything was alright.

So in this example, man is lying on the door- bleeding. Probably bullet holes around him and even shots rang out. Clerk isn't freeking out and the store is still open....people are still pumping gas and there are no sirens or anything...so they continue like it's a normal, everyday thing.

Accepting that it is happening to you is the first step...then you must react appropriately and decisively.

It should be mentioned that a lot of this is not natural behavior, but programmed behavior. We are taught how to think.

The knowledge/expertise of great psychologists like Freud and his family were 'hired on' to work for government. Government wanted controllable consumer drones who would disregard logic in favor of irrational emotions, greed, and peer pressure.

Most people just cannot wrap their heads around the fact there are those who use such practices to guide and/or control your life.

There really are those who manipulate and control our thought process - that is a fact, Jack.

TPTB want a hive mind, not individuals who process information independently. Hive minds can be directed to believe the ridiculous when it benefits TPTB. 9/11 was a prime example.

You're absolutely right, it is programmed behavior. We're told that you shouldn't defend yourself- to huddle in the corner, pee yourself, call the police, run and hide before ever taking a hand to your attacker.

Our children are taught that guns are a taboo and should be shunned and feared.

Our news tells us what's important and who to listen to.

Our government tells us who our enemies and friends are, what we should eat and drink, what type of health insurance we should have...

There was a few threads a while back, one was " the Elevator prank", the other had to do with seeing an assault taking place as you drive by ( or something to that effect)......I seem to recall that several on this forum stated that they didn't want to "get involved"....

At a minimum, you should call the police. I'm not saying you've got to jump on there and rescue the guy...heck, even I would be wondering if it was a set-up to ambush me. Nevertheless, you would think the guy video recording it would have been calling the police on that phone!

Conditioned, emotionless indifference.
Empathy, morality nonexistent there.
Another socialist induced and enabled plague on the country.
