Always like to give credit where credit is due. I used this subsonic expanding 500gr Maker bullet to harvest a blacktail and it worked as advertised. I launched it at at 1000fps from a 458 socom and poleaxed the deer at close range. Bullet entered high in nasal cavity and lodged in neck. Wicked petal expansion with no shearing. Buck did not take a step.. These bullets are like Barnes bullets on steroids. A0C7060F-2613-48B6-AA28-F82AF8773701.jpeg 645257AC-94D1-4005-BC71-B6E9A31463F6.jpeg

Well dang, found my new Home defense gun!
I used a Tromix 16.25" barrel with a 1-14 twist for this build and it is just fast enough to stabilize the 500 gr Maker bullets. While talking to Tony at Tromix when I was developing this load, he made me aware that they also make a 10.5" 1-10 twist 458 socom barrel that will stabilize the heavy weights as well. That would make a bad arse sub hunting/ home defense rig!

The projectile lost no weight and petal expansion was about 1.5". This thing looks like a mini helicopter blade.

And some more gratuitous shots of deer and rifle
