I've got the bug for a stainless 1911, either 4" or 5". I'm leaning toward a Springfield Loaded, because I want one with the shinier finish, not matte like the Kimbers. Looking to spend Under $1000. What do you recommend? Has to be the shiny finish.

Your idea of the Springfield Loaded series is going to be hard to beat. I had the entire series at one time and the commander sized gun was a great gun. A lot of features for the money and well made.

I recently picked up a Remington R1 (plain jane, not the 'enhanced' or 'tactical' version) and it shoots lights out.... bushing to barrel to slide fit is quite good, and you can find them for $500 or so now and then.

It has 3 dot sights, but everything else is gi-spec.
