Venting more than anything since I drove nearly 50 miles round trip.

Found what I thought was a good deal on CL. Hit up the guy, told him I was going to stop by, he said ok. Sounds easy enough right?

Got to his place, texted him and waited about 5 minutes. He responds with "?". So now I'm like WTF is this the right address? I called him and he picks up, confirmed that this was the correct address, he said yes........and then a long pause.

He goes "You know how this works right? You come to the door." Mind you he never came outside, I never saw him once, and the door never opened. There are very few times where I'm speechless and this was one of them. I've done hundreds of transaction through this forum, other sites including CL and never once has anyone told me to come to the door without at least coming out with a courtesy greet.

I told him I wasn't going to knock on some random door. That is just sketchy as f*&k. At least come outside as a courtesy so I know it's the right house and what you look like. He then said something, something, something you f-ing freak and to leave then hung up. All that in a span of 30 seconds. WOW......I'm still in disbelief.......like did that really just happened?

I wasted almost 2 hours and 50 miles worth of gas to be called a freak.......I need a drink......

Ya, I think I know why it's such a good deal and still up on CL even after a month of being listed......don't think I'm the first and pretty sure I'm not going to be the last. With that kind of attitude......ya good luck buddy. You're going to piss off the wrong person for absolutely no reason and now they know where you live. Not a very smart way to do business.

Anyways, time for that drink.....
I did not think you can list guns on CL?

You're not suppose to list primers either but a person did once and I was able to scoop them all up. They were around $60 a brick and I had to drive down to Rickreal area to get them. It was in the middle of the shortage so I felt good about the purchase. It was about 7000 primers of various type and it cost me $440 for the lot.

That's the kind of guy who would sell a "mint" S10 with serious hidden defects you don't find until weeks later.

Buyer inspection at the appropriate dealership or forget it, $150-200 is nothing to pay for peace of mind.

Seems to me CL is a crap shoot. Sometimes you can tell if they are flakes by email or on phone but not always. For me when I'm selling something I only sell to professional and polite people. Anybody that is not courteous or professional I simply don't reply to at all. That alone eliminates 95% of flakes.

I don't buy much anymore but when I did I was pretty open to buying from flakes if cost was right and you'll get burned a couple times by them not showing up. Nowadays I would simply pay more to deal with professional polite sellers or simply live without whatever it is. Have sold over 500 cars many of which came from or sold on Craig's list but I don't do that anymore.

I saw a bike I've been wanting to buy for about 5 years and on messages the seller was obviously a flake and I decided it's just not worth it even though it as extremely hard to find and price was superb. When buying cars or bikes I buy the seller as much as the item. A polite professional person is likely to have taken good care of it vs some scum that would haul TVs into the woods to shoot, throw litter out of their car, and steal others property given the chance, chances are you'll be getting a piece of crap. All IME (in my experience).

Recently I had an as new gun listed on here for low price. I got out of area offers and one local new member who changed the agreed upon price. I decided it's not worth it and put it on consignment instead. I just don't like dealing with unprofessional people I guess. Especially as I have nothing but excellent results here dealing with members who have integrity. I'll continue to work with those type of poeple always but I'm sick of dealing with flakes it's just not worth the trouble.

With CL you never know what you are going to get. I stopped dealing with it long ago. But I had been looking to buy a certain chair and found a listing of the exact chair on CL. I drove across town to find the guy's house. Knocked on the door and this teenager answered and showed me the chair which was in the living room. Picked up the cushion to find food, dirt, and general crap still in the chair! Said nope and left. I wondered later if he was selling his mom's chair for some extra cash!. Last time i answered a CL ad. Trashy people selling trashy things

It ain't all so bad.
My daughter had a Ram 3500 dually for sale and had it listed on marketplace for weeks. She had it priced fairly. No serious inquiries. I told her to put it on craigslist. She got an inquiry on the first day and sold it to that guy the next day. Sometimes it works.

I got the deal of the century on CL. A fella listed a SKS as a Nam bring back on CL and another guy posted the scoop on Calguns, I was able to make phone contact before they pulled the ad. Traded a C note for the SKS, no papers. I bought the story, the rifle was cheap. The vet had passed recently, and a guy was helping to move it, the vet's widow just wanted it gone. All she said was: "He brought it back from over there". I never asked for any paperwork or further details, there was a half empty plastic jug of vodka on the kitchen table and a certain air of hostility in the trailer, so I took the rifle and booked. The SKS looked the part, '68 arsenal /26\ all matching except the bolt carrier. 👍 PAX

I had a deal go south on here
I responded to ad said ( I'll Take it ) agreed on meeting place seller contacted me the next day I simply wanted to verify what I was buying from seller
he switched item for another item and changed meeting location, But then he felt the need to say things that must have made him feel justified for
changing the deal childish talk in his mind. I got the feeling he is a scammer.

It sort of seems like some of Craig's list people are on this site now days

My last deal on craigslist was funny...funnier now as time passes...a bit annoying at the time it took place.

I love to read...and buy / trade books a lot.
A few years ago I saw an ad for a 1st edition Dracula...the seller showed some pictures of the book and it seemed like the real deal.
He was asking $50 which was a decent price for the condition shown.

We agree to meet up at a local coffee house....he arrives on time and with the book...
The book is as described....but...the price is now $300....
I ask why the price change...
The seller replies...well I just noticed it is autographed....
I found the inscription...and it does indeed say Brom Stoker.....in marker.... :D
Didn't buy the book...and a damn shame the seller wrote in it.

This is pretty much par for the course with deals like that. I have sold several things on CL and I just expect a lot of no shows. The best ones are the things I am giving away free. Every time there is at least one or two who set a time and then don't bother to show.
Wife went to look at a car one time even though I warned her not to. People show up and there is some woman in the back seat passed out cold as the seller is asking if she has cash. I guess if the Wife had bought the car the passed out in the backseat woman would have come with the car? Buying or selling on things like CL if all goes well? You figure you got lucky.

Stood up?
I just squish them and throw them in the garbage like a normal person.

Lol
No, the person wanted me to deliver them to salem and if I did there would be sexual favors provided for delivery. I declined, my wife would not of approved. I put them all down on the sidewalk in lyons with a free sign and they where gone in 10 min
