Does Carhartt make jeans? How they doin politically

I dig Carhartt canvas pants and especially their coveralls. Not sure how to take it, but I keep getting emails from Carhartt selling NFL team hats:s0170:

Plenty of decent brands out there. I love Wrangler RIGGS... Technician pants when it's warm and Rangers when it's cold or work is heavy duty.

Don't own any but Duluth Trading Co. has a mix of USA made and imported clothing.

companies getting political to sell products, this is ridiculous....

Levi Strauss teams up with gun control group: 'We simply cannot stand by silently'
BY MORGAN GSTALTER - 09/04/18 10:38 AM EDT

American denim giant Levi Strauss & Co. announced Tuesday that it is launching a series of new initiatives to benefit groups working to prevent gun violence.

Levi Strauss's CEO and President Chip Bergh wrote in Fortune on Tuesday that the company "simply cannot stand by silently when it comes to issues that threaten the very fabric of the communities where we live and work."

"You may wonder why a company that doesn't manufacture or sell guns is wading into this issue, but for us, it's simple," Bergh wrote. "Americans shouldn't have to live in fear of gun violence. It's an issue that affects all of us — all generations and all walks of life."

Bergh said it was his responsibility to speak up for important issues since he leads a "values-drive company that's known the world over as a pioneer of the American West and one of the great symbols of American freedom."

He added that he is not advocating to repeal the 2nd Amendment nor calling gun owners irresponsible.

"We can't insulate ourselves from every threat," Bergh wrote. "We can't 'harden' every place we gather — whether it be our schools, workplaces, shops, churches, or entertainment venues. But we can take common-sense, measurable steps — like criminal background checks on all gun sales — that will save lives."

Levi's, therefore, announced a new three-tiered initiative to support gun violence prevention.

The company will donate more than $1 million over the next four years to nonprofits and youth activists that work to end gun violence, establishing the "Safer Tomorrow Fund."

The blue jean manufacturer also partnered with gun control group Everytown for Gun Safety and other executives to form Everytown Business Leaders for Gun Safety.

Bergh called the group a coalition of business leaders who "believe, as we do, that business has a critical role to play in and a moral obligation to do something about the gun violence epidemic in this country."

Levi's will also double all donations made by their employees to the Safer Tomorrow Fund.

Bergh acknowledged that the decision to advocate for gun control is a controversial one.

"While taking a stand can be unpopular with some, doing nothing is no longer an option," he wrote.

I wear wrangler cargo pants. They last, and they have extra space. I tend to use the extra pockets to hold keys and wallet so I can hold my water bottle in my other pocket.

If I wore levis, I'd be chafing bad from work.

More background checks, yeah, Just Do It! That'll fix things.

Ah well, I haven't worn overpriced jeans for 50yrs... guess I won't be starting now. When will all this virtue signalling end?

The thing is that these companies are being duped by these organizations claiming that they are only pushing to stop gun violence.

The truth is they are fighting to limit gun ownership instead under the guise of safety and that really chaps my hide!!!:mad::mad:

Please email or call these ignorant companies and let them know that they are siding against all law abiding gun owners if they kowtow with the anti-gun agenda.

Yes! It was supposed to be 500 years in the future, not two Obummer administrations.

I almost believed their message, until the part where they said they had joined with EveryTown for Gun Safety and made the statement of businesses influencing policy!
That's kind of like the banks sticking their noses in and making rules and policies and politics instead of doing their job!
Add another overpriced inferior quality company to the list of anti American companies we should not do business with!

Here is a simple truth, if you are a business, you should support Americans who support you, if you come out as anti American, you should suffer the massive loss of business! I refuse to wear Levies products, Nike products, and others who have decided that I'm one of the bad guys, so f-k'um, here's to a fast slide to the bottom!

I have not worn Levi jeans for decades. I wore button fly 501 jeans in high school and college. But then I went to work for a company that required suits and ties be worn. There was a casual Wednesdays but could not wear t-shirts so polo shirts or button shirts only. I just buy the Costco's Kirkland brand jeans now. Once they fade after a few years of use I then relegate my faded pairs to yard work duty and buy new pairs for work.

The 501's definitely did not react well to stretching like climbing into a truck and would rip out in the crotch every time.

They are garbage because they don't fit well with the bulging belly that thinks it's my Mini-Me.:eek::eek::D

Again tho this will likely pay off for them as they target millennial crowds and students where the anti-gun message is a common leftist signal.

This will work out better than Dick's alienating gun owners.

BTW are Americans really living in fear of gun violence daily? What is with this statement?

It really says something about the omni-potence of these people and the companies they run when they feel emboldened to turn their backs on a significant number of Americans, all for what? What gain do these businesses have for shunning a Huge number of customers? Why speak out and do any thing that would hurt your bottom line, unless they feel too big to fail!

I got news for them, times they are a changing, Americans are a different sort from the rest of the world, we don't take well to getting stomped into the mud, but you take US there, it's You who will suffer! Some day will come a reckoning, and those who stand against us will fall, and fall hard! The list is growing!
