Being gay has nothing to do with love of liberty. The bible-thumping "family values" wingnuts are some of the worst offenders when it comes to siding with the criminal government in its quest to dominate the country.

I'm an atheist so insulting religion or religious people won't work on me. I will tell you that from what I see it is not "bible-thumping wingnuts" that are pushing these sort of policies or policies that lead to having kids taken away from parents because they have run afoul of some government idea.
I find "bible thumping" mildly annoying, but mostly harmless, unlike ideology that some other people push.
I will leave it at that, because we could easily veer off the topic that has anything to do with the 2nd amendment or firearms.

Drug war, patriot act? While the leftists have little respect for economic rights, many conservatives have no respect for civil rights. Let's not slander homosexuals because of personal distaste for their lifestyle, as long as they don't try to use the government to force their lifestyle on other people. How is it a socialistic answer? Isn't it more anti-socialist? Socialism doesn't allow for 8 people to decide the process for the entire group.

A socialist believes that management and control over the activities of enterprises is based on self-management and self-governance, with equal power-relations in the workplace to maximize occupational autonomy. A socialist form of organization would eliminate controlling hierarchies so that only a hierarchy based on technical knowledge in the workplace remains. Every member would have decision-making power in the firm and would be able to participate in establishing its overall policy objectives.

The guy can't control and make the decisions for his pre-teen daughter without having to pass an ordinance to enforce it, yet we put him on city council? Where's the logic? It's our own fault for putting the decision making power into the hands of buffoons. I don't think we can lay that one at the feet of socialism.

You are confusing socialism with Marxism. Marxism is where the private sector owns the means of production, but the government controls it. Sort of like Obama bailing out GM, leaving it privately owned, but firing the CEO, anointing his own choice, and then dictating what kind of cars they could build.

LOL, in my experience the majority of gay people just want equal rights and the government to leave them alone (and I attended a very leftist ivy league college full of in-your-face activist types), as opposed to the majority of religious evangelicals who support using government violence to implement what they see to be the "correct lifestyle". As far as I'm concerned, the very act of passing an oppressive law is violence in itself because it is backed by government force.

The only lifestyle that is wrong is one that coerces others through violence.

If I recall about 5 years ago or so the gays wanted spousal rights that married man/woman rights have. Also, if i recall, they wanted their own college in addition. That to me, sounds like special rights and not equal rights.

Regardless, I think where the whole gay thing came into play was in the topic of SF. Which has been notoriously known as a majority gay town.
