You start with the CENTER and work OUT in a circular pattern ESPECIALLY on a long head like a straight six.
This is typical.
Your manual will show the exact pattern to follow.

You did run all new ignition did you? Distributor, cap, points, rotor, top, wires, plugs. New cam? Wild shot. Wasp nest inside the intake manifold?

Many years ago I had an older fellow told me what the firing order is for a straight 6 by remembering this about women.
15 is to young, 36 is to old, 24 is just right.

If I understand from this and previous, you have two cylinders right next to each other that just went dead "like a switch" simultaneously. You then rebuilt the engine, (just top end?) And the problem still exists? I don't care if you replaced the entire ignition system 10 times over, you've got an electrical bug. You virtually eliminated mechanical problems if you just went through that much of the hard iron stuff

I braided them all to gather. No, they are as far apart from each other as possible.
