Just saying you CAN own a made up term like assault weapon in WA. No recent laws passed that prevented it.

o_Oo_Oo_O
Define "Assault weapon"? The real definition! And no we can't.

This gross misnaming and gross misinformation needs to stop and be corrected in the courts.
This is what has brought about the insane thinking in the liberal progressive liberal lemmings and politicians.

The law abiding citizens are not the problem!!!

OP, YES, why ask the gents in 1791 they wrote it because there was a threat to not be armed/disarmament
Simple as that, not any more complicated.
Basic Cause and Effect. The Cause, Tyrannical Gov wanted our guns, effect......we shot them, and kept us guns.
Still are, same reason.

While were not quite to the point of shooting tyrannical politicians YET, that day is going to come very soon! Sad, but that's exactly why our founding fathers included the 2nd with The specific 4 simple words, " SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED" written in plane and simple English so that any one could read and understand it!

I've got a tattoo with those very words....

Come and take them.

And in Washington "Shall not be Impaired", we know that the anti-freedom zealots, judges & politicians do not GAF about the meanings of those words.

However, the majority of the time, it feels like those screaming "The Anti's are coming!!" are just as out of touch as those that scream "All guns are evil!!". Maybe it's a case of the boy who cried wolf or Chicken Little insisting the sky is falling, but the rhetoric is losing it's effectiveness on me.

then you probably dont follow gun politics or are aware of just how many times gun-controllers have tried to ban firearms.

Dude, seriously?
+1. NRA Lifer, and you think they and the firearms manufactures are into fabricating things to "up their profits" ? No, that's what the Chicken Little People of the other side do. "Enjoy firearms for home defense." Have many home invasions? Some things smell fishy. Not very observant if you can't see the 600# gorilla in the room...and the death by 1K cuts being legislated into law every year. The old turnip truck routine is getting old... but it got all you guys chasing your tails again in useless "discussion". Three posts?

We are seeing law after law regarding so-called 'safe storage' of firearms. Look at the practical meaning of these statutes and it appears that they intend to make firearms unusable due to the degree of "safety" one must employ in "safely" storing them. And, it is people who genuinely hate firearms who define "safe." Further, such laws dissuade legitimate potential owners out of fear of prosecution if they do not "safely" store their gun.

They never draft or propose any law regarding the safe storage of criminals. We used to lock up dangerous people and the mentally deranged. Now, they have "rights" and roam the streets. But the antis are working as dupes for a higher power that they are unaware of.

You may call the evil one the devil, George Soros, or all internationalists or globalists. They seek absolute power and they cannot have such power as long as an armed citizenry exists. When the standing army is out of control, or ordered to oppress the law abiding, a "well regulated militia" is the only defense.

No, not trolling. The idea was originally intended to cover a more national view of the Second Amendment as a whole. Although specific state instances, such as California, are the more likely culprits of how the Second Amendment would be gutted. What good does the intact Second Amendment do when all the states are restricted?

And that's exactly how it's being done. So in essence, the premise of your first post is correct, the 2nd ammendment itself is safe at the national level, at least for now. The antis are smart enough to know that that is a bridge too far. So they got grassroots and started from the other end. They focused on cities and counties with high concentration of .gov-lovers and used the "safety" argument because they know those lemmings will support anything if it's "for the children". Then they leveraged that to the county and state level. It's quite clever, really.
So sure, the 2nd ammendment is still theoretically intact. You can still own guns...in certain jurisdictions...with the proper permits...that you purchased only after being scrutinized at a local, state, and federal level...but only certain kinds...that don't have any fashionably prohibited features...if they are stored in specific ways...and not loaded...or hold more than a few rounds...of approved ammunition...that you can only purchase from approved vendors...after another background check...and on...and on. See? You can still own guns. The 2nd isn't in any danger at all.

Ironically, many states have specific references to RKBA in their own constitutions that are even more specifically worded to empower citizenry and limit government. Yet most all these 2A restrictions happen at local and state levels.
