Great job everyone, and a HUGE thank you to the Oregon Firearms Federation, Oregon Hunters Association, Oregon Outdoor Council, and the National Rifle Association for taking this on in court.

I want to point out that in the end this was beat with money and lawyers, but someone had to pay for it. That someone was those of us who have joined and financially supported these pro-2A organizations. I am a member of three of the four and will continued to be counted among their ranks and financially support them. Please consider doing the same if you don't already do so.

I believe the victory here is even bigger than just IP 43 as the Oregon SC's opinion must be considered by the Legislature regarding any bills they may introduce in the future pertaining to "assault weapons".

Thank you all for your efforts!!! This is a great victory, even if it is temporary.

OFF does alot of work on are behalf and keeps us informed .I will be sending in more financial support as soon as I have wiggle room

I agree that the battle will wage on long after we are gone. In my opinion, we need to get legislation passed that guarantees our Second Amendment Rights will forever remain unhindered by State or Federal legislation. That's the least we should provide our children with.

We should introduce a petition that makes attempted Second amendn
ment infringement a crime. And that lobbying together to reduce the 2nd amendment rights in anyway Rackitering and violation of the RICO laws . Punishable by no less than life in prison.

Plans to go forward with the campaign? WTF ..these people are not in there right mind

I was watching the news they want to kick the ice office out of Portland and days of protest for non citizens, another was protesting for the rights for chicken to have seat belts .They want to take away a simple set of rights that are already regulated from people that are abiding by the current regulations ? They need to spend some quality time at Dammasch .

If all that submitted comments on the title contacted the politicians on both sides, we could beat this crap.
Starting now and adding to the total participants will have an effect. Plus we will have a more conservative SCOTUS.
I recommend paper complaints, plus e-mail. Nothing like boxes of letters displayed by the legislators in session.---just like the PR photos of the boxes of sigs displayed by the other side.
everyone mail a letter at least one a week, maybe with scheduled submissions as a constant reminder to them.

Immediately upon the news of Kennedy retirement the media started crying abortions will be illegal in 22 states. Our rights will be taken. What? I thought about the irony and how it won't sink into them. I wonder how many red shirted grandmothers from Every Town will be in Salem protesting, for the childen?

My crystal ball only picks up two channels. The Bloomberg and Oprah networks. And it always knows what's playing.

You are right on track with letter writing campaign. This subject deserves it's own thread.

Nope, they'll just shift their efforts to Salem in 2019 and get Kate and her buddies to push an extreme measure through as an "emergency". That means this November's election will be critical to the future of our rights. They are pizzed off big time that they lost, they will double down on the attack.

I just came back from a four day vacay out in central and southern OR and found this excellent news. Let the good times roll!

Thanks to all that had a hand in defeating this unconstitutional ideation.

This is why GUNARCHER's comments above are SPOT-ON!

I agree, we need a general thread for the general elections in november so we can start spearheading reps to speak with and figures to back from a large consensus vs splinter threads where we have so many ideas. Lets keep it contained to one and one only for control and information sake.

Going with that....

Oregon elections, 2018 - Ballotpedia

this contains a list of the candidates coming up in the novemeber 2018 election period. if you click on each section (ie Governor) you'll see a list of candidates for each party.

From that the best bet is to research who you see fit for your party and their past votes/elections/stances and compare then make up your own roster for your november ballot.

So far we have a "pro gun" candidate Knute Buehler for the Repubs but is more of a moderate and with greater focus on students and finances, claims to be pro 2A but as i recall he got a bad grading from NRA/OFF (we had a thread on this during the primaries).

In the last month he has appeared on Lars Larson clarifying his 2A stance and the misconceptions of how he was associated in signing HB 4145 or the convicted stalkers losing guns over spousal abuse as he claims he sees it more of a domestic abuse case vs gun control.

I am however hoping this forum can make a dedicated candidate thread/tracker so we can get ahead of the curve with people we should be selecting out of balance (as folks have brought up before 2A is great but they also have other issues) as this would help everyone get a spoon feed of how to better save ourselves from another 4 years of Democratic rule under Kate Brown. I am sure there are fine Dem candidates out there they are just overshadowed and silenced by these quasi control freaks hell bent on wealthy backed agendas coming from out of state.

Furthering your request i'll make a list of the folks who won the 2018 Primaries for both parties:

Republican

District 1:

District 2:

District 3:
None

District 4:

District 5:

Governor Elect:

The two Pivot counties are Tillamook and Columbia for Oregon.

Democrats
