Let freedom ring! The Court has spoken and president has been set! Tread carefully, OryGunions are fully awake now, and were angry and we will vote!

This year's Independence Day will be extra glorious in Oregon. When we watch those fireworks let's think of the sacrifices made to create and keep this Republic! Let's commit to our responsibility to carry that Republic forth to future generations and do everything we can to oppose those who would weaken and corrupt the Bill of Rights in order to destroy This Republic!

...
Remember who did the heavy lifting for us (OOC, OFF, NRA - who else?) this time around and keep making contributions so they will be full armed when we need them, which could be as early as the February legislative session. Even 5 bux each pay period to one of them will add up quick and make a huge difference.

I read OHA assisted in the fight against IP 44. They also deserve praise (at least mine). IP 44 would have made it so no youth (under 18) could hunt without their dad (or guardian) right by their side. Hunting at that age was a big part of growing up, and huge part of life. I cannot imagine that independence that I had, being taken away from my kids, because of some dumb ballot measure...

And now: IP 43 is dead = I could not be any happier today! :s0168::s0069:

make the topic of gun control so toxic to any politician and activist that it becomes a death sentence to any and all aspirations of power and office!
^^^^THIS^^^^
Someone told Democrats that in 2016 gun control was safe. It had been a "third rail" topic in most places for all but the most radical of leftist wannabes.
The messege got put in their collective ears from Hillary on down and they foolishly believed it. Even with the ashes of the recalled pols in CO still smoldering, they were so eager to move forward with anti-gun rhetoric that they ignored the signs.
"...dismantle the NRA... " Girl, puhleease...
Make America Great Again, Make OR Great Again, and Make Gun Control Toxic Again.

Man i'd be really upset if I was a backer/donate/contributor of both 43 and 44 right now. Good waste of money and time! especially to the outside financiers who were banking hard on this getting through.

So now the progressives probably think that we will celebrate by going outside and shooting guns in the air. Sorry to disappoint them but we tend to be responsible gun owners and we stand proudly behind safe gun practices. Why don't they get that?

Bloomberg and Soros have plenty of money they won't miss the money they wasted here:)

Yes, OHA went in jointly with the NRA.

I speculate, they split the cost in trade for piggybacking NRA's legal team, because they don't have or regularly use an attorney like we (OOC), OFF or NRA. But regardless, yes, they were part of the hometeam.

According to the courts Ruling, the term "Assault weapon" is to broad and misleading, it can be used to describe only military issue weapons ( correct call Justices) and it can be misrepresented by the list of specific features That would ban non military weapons! The court also "Found" the term too broad and full of multiple meanings! Emotionally Charged!
Its nice to see the supreme court has not been bought and paid for like the rest Oregon's officials. Good job thanks to everyone involved in fighting this. I will now rotate my flag upright in celebration

The Supreme Court sent it back to the AG to correct the misleading caption (Assault Weapon language).

Even if they did that today, we have 10 days to appeal (which has to pass before it can move forward).

We win, game over (for now). Formal post from OOC coming...

ARE WE INVITED TO CEASEFIRES PITY PARTY

Time to go on the offensive. It seems preparing an initiative guaranteeing our 2nd Amendment rights will not be curtailed in Oregon is the way to go. I for one hate being on the defensive side of things all the time.
Any such petition should be simple, started early and vetted to the extreme to make sure it doesn't get the scrutiny that this initiative did.

Yeah...well screw them with an enema full of angry bees. They've been ramming all of their own special interest shinola down our throats for the last several decades.
I will happily take this win and then maybe piss on them if they set themselves on fire over their angst.

I'm sorry, sir. We CANNOT idly stand by and allow you to waste your precious bodily fluids on such an unworthy cause.

We will physically constrain you if need be.... let them burn.

I read somewhere that the original plan was to put these on the ballot in 2020, giving themselves plenty of time. And that they made a try for 2018 because the wave of anti-gun laws being passed in other states made it look possible. So 43 and 44 will be back in some form two years from now, and with much more prep and organization. We need to fight them as well as have some ballot measures of our own. I would like to see one that said that gun rights may not be suspended in times of disaster or emergency, nor may guns or knives be forbidden in emergency shelters.

KNIFE LAWS. While we're at it, we should develop some ballot measures on knife laws. Right now, it isn't obvious how long a folding knife blade can be to be considered an ordinary pocket knife, thus legal to carry concealed. There's no law. Court cases have determined that 4 3/4 is legal to carry concealed but 6 inches isn't. So I went to great pains to get a concealed handgun license only to figure out just recently that the 6 inch gardening knife I sometimes carried was illegal to carry concealed. I had to buy a new knife because of that. And ALL fixed blade knives are illegal concealed. And there is no preemption. Some cities have outlawed folding lockblade knives with blades only 3.5 inches for carry concealed. Nor is it obvious what counts as concealed. Is the clip only showing concealed? No one knows.

I would like, for starters, state preemption for knife laws. Then I would like a law saying that anyone with an Oregon CHL can carry any knife they want, of any length or style, concealed or not. And then a law specifying what length of blade is legal to carry concealed if you don't have a CHL, and making it legal for both folding and fixed blade knives.

I heard it's BYOG (Bring Your Own Gun). Trying to decide if I'll go open or concealed carry?
He'll, I'm trying to decide which 1911 I'm gonna open carry, my STI show piece with machined grips and alloy frame, my Caspian with elegant traditional style, or my Eclipse with it's modern yet classy look, then I need to decide which holster, traditional officers Sam browne, custom wild bunch, or old school drop leg hybrid cowboy gunslinger! :D:p:D so many choices, and yea, freedom! :)
