Any word yet on the type of rifles used? I'm thinking if they were AR types it would already be all over the news. Maybe bolt action SNIPER rifles with HIGH POWERED scopes are next on the list...

Just read the headline of today's Washington Post... "CIVIL WAR".
Now that's going to be really helpful. Not.
My prayers are with the Dallas PD, their families and those murdered.
Interesting headline considering all that has transpired this week... But it is the Washington Post, so not sure how much credibility they garner nowadays...

What I see is a war on police. I see this as a war against police for doing their job. A battle, instigated in part by BLM... One that is certainly being fanned by the White House.

In Lousiana, cops physicially confront a Known Felon with a firearm, as they respond to a call of a man with a gun. Who they shoot and kill. But the media, BLM and White House fail to identify his federal firearms violations, his firearms possession and his felonious record. Why?

In Minnesota, you have a black man telling the police I have a gun as he reaches for his wallet... What in the world was he thinking? Does anyone think the word gun isn't a trigger word for the police? I mean seriously?? Media's portrayal, he was gunned down for a broken tail light... Not quite the facts... Why?

It all smacks of Michael Brown, all over again. Let's have just the facts, without the hype.

All this followed by the assination of 5 police officers in Dallas... Committed by an individual who got too wrapped up in the media hype and took advantage of a protest, that was protected by police...

Now police agencies across the nation are pulling back from proactive law enforcement. Commiting to respond only to 911 calls. What do you honestly think the results of that are going to be???

Imagine any large city in America, with a reduced police presence and a brownout...

Stay alert!

Actually, it was the New York POst that did that on the front page. New York Post 'civil war' cover prompts pushback (http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/286984-new-york-post-cover-declaring-civil-war-prompts-pushback) A much more questionable and less followed publication. I try not to trust anything out of New York or Washington..

Just wait and see what comes up in New York and California since they already have a ban.
I'm predicting optics and accuracy regulations ie.. Sniper rifle ban.
Weeeeeeeee. Right down the slippery slope !

There is no legitimate reason for us to have this military level magnification that only belongs on the battlefield, on our streets.o_O

Did anyone ever think that maybe a group of black men in Texas decided that the government (in this instance, the police) was being oppressive/tyrannical and decided to take up arms against said government? Kinda what the 2nd amendment is all about, really.

I'm not supporting this action in any way, but my guess is that's their motivation. A lot of folks on this forum (myself included) have alluded to the 'Tree of Liberty' and whatnot. Whether or not you're a cattle rancher out West getting f#$ked over for grazing fees or group of men in Dallas that feel they're getting killed for being black, the net result is the same. Government is the enemy.

Stay prepared, it's not going to get anything but worse.

Can we stop just throwing around the term "sniper?" Sniper is just another fear-term like "assault weapon" and "high-powered."

These were sharpshooters, at absolute best, and that's probably being generous. Snipers are masters of stealth, cover, concealment, field-craft, their own bodies, and marksmanship.

These terrorists were wannabe-Oswalds taking pot-shots onto a street full of cops.

Assault Weapon Bans will only encourage more madmen to become snipers, where an Assault Weapon would probably be less effective than a more accurate bolt action precision rifle..
Unless the shooter is past a certain distance, the accuracy between the two would make no difference. Keeping in mind that even the so called "assault weapons" are plenty accurate as well, some even giving bolts a run for the money.

But I digress from the matter. Realistically, banning weapons just causes them to think of worse ways of doing things. One of the deadliest mass killings within the past 20 years didn't even use a gun, yet it killed and injured more people than any mass shooting here in the past 20 years.

There's no way it will be a normal shooting war, with territory and clear sides, but a civil war might be coming.

1) Socialists/Marxists who believe our system of government and culture is unjust, unequal, and insufficiently democratic (and should be "transformed" away from a constitutional republic with the rule of law).

2) Constitutional patriots who believe our system of government and culture, as originally designed, supports liberty and personal responsibility (and should be protected from transformation).

I would hope it doesn't come down to any kind of large scale revolution or civil war. The costs would be enormous and the time to rebuild would be lengthy. Not only would there be loss of life, but livelihoods as industries would likely shut down, the economy would tank, and, perhaps worst of all, with a focus on an internal conflict, we become easier targets to the enemies of the U.S.

As much as I'd like to see some kind of 'reset', I really don't want to see it happen through those means. With that in mind, however, we certainly seem to be heading that direction, but then again people thought that back during the race riots of the 60's as well. I will continue to hold out hope that cooler heads will prevail, eventually, and we can get ourselves somewhat back on track.

I would hope that the media, government chair polishers, and law enforcement would remember the real reason why Dallas occurred before rushing to stamp out our gun rights and start talking about bans or confiscation. Dallas was retribution, pure and simple. The shooter said so himself.
We all lose if the narrative becomes about American citizen gun possession instead of cops killing innocent people.

Dallas didn't need to happen. Neither did St. Paul or New Orleans. If we all don't take a step back and let everybody calm down, it promises to be a long hot summer.

Agree with billstaf. The problem is only going to get worse. "Retribution" for police using excessive force will only cause the police to use more excessive force. It's going to get ugly.

Uh, don't get yourself too worked up over this. He was a "felon" because he was caught with a gun and some pot. Seems to me, carrying a gun is a pretty innocent activity, particularly in high crime areas. This is a firearms forum, isn't it? And smoking pot, that's just a nothing "crime", just more BS to keep government employees in jobs. Combine these two "crimes", and you get an extra special serious "crime". Five years for harming nobody. Yeah, that makes sense. o_O

In 2009, he was charged with carrying a weapon (a firearm) while in possession of a controlled substance (marijuana). He pleaded guilty two years later and was sentenced to five years in prison, with credit for time served and a recommendation of work release and drug treatment. Sterling had pleaded guilty to other charges in the past.

What is going on here is people getting mad about cops murdering other people (not to mention, about having their liberty trampled). Don't be surprised they blow up at some point and start shooting. Murder does have adverse consequences, even for minions of the state.

Cops don't like walking around with targets on their backs? Maybe they should start policing their own corrupt ranks. That would be a good start. But it's probably gone too far now, to fix things. War is coming (particularly after the economic crash), and it won't matter who is president.

As to using this event for gun prohibition, that is not going to happen. People don't give up their guns when a war is on the horizon.

Ok short rant comming..... I have a lot of friends in law enforcement I myself was a corrections officer for some time and I will just say that law enforcement officers have quite possibly the hardest job ever and most definitely the most underappreciated job. Well underappreciated by democrats and apparently by the BLM movement. I wish they would stop and think what it is like to walk outside everyday to go to work knowing it may be your last day on Earth because of your job

Not only will they go after assault weapons, but look for the mental health if all Vets to be tested now.
This guys was no Veteran, he was a coward, he was a terrorist.

I wish they would release what the "camo bags" contained.

And, this morning, on the 10 am news conference in downtown Portland, the mayor Charlie Tuna, has called for more gun control along with some other nutjob. The rest who spoke seemed to get that it is a people problem. But the first words out of Hale's mouth were calling for more gun control because "this has to stop." SMH
