I need some gun locks - the cable kind that goes through the action. I probably need at least ten. Anyone know of a good, cheap source? The Beaverton PD gave some away a few years now but are not doing it now (that I know of). projectchildsafe.org does not list them as participating. I can always google around but thought maybe someone here had an idea. Another important question: other than marking each lock/key pair with a Sharpie, is there a good system or trick to reduce the number of keys needed?
Sheriff's office, PDX NE 122nd & Glisan, free. Check to see if they got more in, they ran out and expected more last week.
My FFL dealer in Salem always has a few around and is pleased to pass them out. I wouldn't be surprised if other FFL dealers would do the same, especially if you buy (or have bought) guns from them.
I do Search and Rescue for Yamhill County- we hand cable locks out at every public event....you could contact their main office in McMinnville....it's a bit of a drive but hey, the price is right!
I'm pretty sure most PD's have them for free, at least they do here. Just be sure to check the function of the lock, I got one that didn't work (I think the key was mismatched).
Go to a locksmith and have them re-keyed. If you get the locks for free, spend the money you saved on not having to sort through a dozen different keys.
I should have a few dozen xtras in the cabinet, send me a PM if your serious and i will dig them out. RK
Why do you wish to render your guns useless? Buy a gun safe. Yes the trick is to buy a gun safe and teach your children about guns and safety.
+2 and you should be able to get up to 3 or at least 2 for free.. Check with Clackamas county too, Most sheriff's offices will be glad to help.
I stopped by and they said they're out and don't have an ETA. The woman at the front counter thought it was a one-time program.
Every Oregon police department was given gun locks to hand out to the public a couple of years ago. If you look through the locks they received you can find some that are keyed alike.
