Well, then. Maybe we can stop paying $20 billion per year in hand-outs to wheat farmers...

Yeah totally!!! Lets stop subsidizing the American farmers so that they can cover their costs, so that we end up paying something ridiculous for a loaf of bread!!!!! YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!! wait a second... :s0131:
BTW corn is the most subsidized crop in the U.S.

Are you a taxpayer? Then you're paying for it anyway...

I am a tax payer there gunner and WE are all paying for it,

Look at it this way for a second

Pay taxes that you already pay, leave the subsidies alone and the prices of the bread and what not stay the same (in this instance) or........

We cut the subsidies and the people to be (politicians) will find something else to spend our money on, AND we pay something ridiculous for said products.

It is not as if they/we cut the subsidies and we pay less taxes. They will continually find something to spend our money regardless of if we see anything in return for it or not. I would rather be able to go to the store with a handful of change and be able to pick up some buns for a BBQ rather than having to hit the ATM or break out the credit card to buy a loaf of bread. Oh yeah some other products of wheat:

Baked beans, Baking powder (some), Biscuits, Bouillon cubes and extracts, Bread crumbs, Breaded foods, Cakes, pastries, or cookies (commercial or prepared), Canned fish, Cheese sauces or spreads (unless known to be wheat-free), Cloudy lemonade, ginger beer (some), Commercially prepared fruit pie fillings and jams, Commercially prepared gravies, salad dressings, sauces, condiments containing wheat flour, Commercially prepared mustard, Crackers, Creamed or scalloped potatoes (unless thickened with cornstarch), Creamed or scalloped vegetables (if thickened with flour or topped with bread crumbs), Creamed products,
Egg dishes thickened with flour, Luncheon meats, Malted milk and drinks, Meat and poultry containing flour
Meat tenderizers (if made from monosodium glutamate [MSG]), Muffins, Mustard powder (some), Pancakes, Pasta noodles,
Pre-molded hamburgers, Pretzels, Pudding (commercial or homemade, thickened with wheat flour), Rolls, Sauce and gravy mixes
Sausage (unless they are pure meat), Soups containing commercially prepared noodles, macaroni, or spaghetti, Soup mixes and bases, Soy sauce, Tamari (unless wheat-free), Stewed fruits thickened with flour, Sweets dusted with wheat flour to prevent them from sticking, Tomato sauces, Waffles, Wieners. Lets face it there are alot of products out there that we use that have in some way shape or form wheat or some product of wheat that are not listed here.
Break out a cook book and look and how many different foods use wheat or some other product of wheat.

I think you just gave a very good argument as to why we need a complete turnover of people in DC... :)
