It'd be incredible if these folks finally began to realize that it's not the guns which cause gun violence. Sadly, I don't think that'll happen.

PORTLAND, Ore. -- We need to start being honest about gun violence - that's what local health experts and victims' families are saying in Oregon.

According to the Oregon Health Authority, every day an Oregonian is killed in some type of shooting, be it suicide, person-to-person violence, or accidents. This weekend, a gun violence forum hopes to show people we're all involved in what leads up to it.

Gotta question those statistics and how they were compiled. Even the anti-gun Huffington Post claims only 36 gun deaths per day average in the entire US so I doubt if Oregon accounts for one of those every day when you consider New York, LA Detroit and Chicago. Must be the same people who said Trump had no path to victory.

What is top use of guns equating to violence
1. Suicide. Good luck with that.

If your only goal is to reduce gun violence.
I got a solution for you. (One I know many NWFA members will not agree with)

Eliminate drugs from the criminal statutes. (other than smuggling)
You get busted, maybe we take them and you get a ticket (fine) but no more criminal charges.
Let them be sold in ATF stores ( sorry, Alcohol, Tobacco, Porn, Slim Jims, Slurpies, and corn dogs stores ... )

Looking at this from a purely clinical point of view. The issue is Gun Violence.
Has nothing to do with a firearm at all, in Australia since their gun ban person on person crimes are up over 75% from where they were prior why yes gun crimes ( so called ) are down. Violence is up.
Violent rapes, robberies, theft and break in's are all up and rising. Some how Gun Violence doesn't seem to need a Gun does it ( sarcasm). There have been 12 attacks on schools there since the ban by nut jobs all with no guns. And yet each year many still die from gun shot wounds too in a country that does not allow guns.

People are violent, and will use what ever means needed, heck Cops has been on TV over 25 years and near all the violence you see on there do not involve guns even, yet still people die, hurt others and cause pain all with no guns around.

I carry each day all day, why ? Not because of Gun Violence. But because people are violent no guns needed.

I rather see a focus on what percentage of those shootings are defensive... How many are defensive shootings by those with CHL's? How many are gang shooting? How many are offensive shootings? Then I'd like to see statistics broken down by race, by how the firearms were obtained...

See then you start to see the real picture. This "gun violence is an urgent health issue" is BS. Me thinks more people in Oregon die every year due to alcohol and drug abuse than they do guns. Yet we don't view those as urgent health issues...

This is just playing into the hands of an over-reaching state government...

And don't forget vehicle accidents, recreational deaths (falling, drowning, ATV accidents etc.) industrial accidents and the list goes on. As long as the left continues to isolate gun deaths into into there own category and disregard the relatively small numbers of them and NOT rationally compare them to to the greater number of non-gun deaths then there will be little to no chance of convincing them otherwise.

Where are the stats for knife violence, hammer violence, fists etc. This is the ambiguous approach and is not entirely truthful, it only tells what the researchers want to tell. This is the exact thing we should be debunking and writing our lawmakers about.

Several years ago in Seattle a local guy with the moniker "Tuba Man" was beaten to death on the street. Nowhere is this type of violence recorded. The "kid" that killed Tuba Man received a lenient sentence and went on to re offend.

Fire up your google machine and look for Tuba Man Seattle if you need a jolt in your blood pressure.

I hope their research looks at the shockingly high percentage of people on anti-depressants (to say nothing of those who are self-medicating). Why, in an era when when so many strides have been made towards equality, when the average American has more toys than ever before, are people so miserable? Something is fundamentally very wrong.

I saw all three just in my college Stats class... at least that one we had an honest prof who SHOWED how the books are cooked, and gave us an assignment to first DO it ourselves and second SHOW what we'd done as Bad Stats and Manipulation.

Guy cracked up when a Brady in class was going off on me (mind you, said prof was left-leaning, but one of the ones who got the discipline, etc. of responsible weps carry) and I came back and told him "and statistically speaking if you had balls you'd be a guy..." Even had a few of the girls giggling at that.

In Oakland California there were more shootings in 2015 then all the school shootings combined the last 20 years and more people died in Oakland California in 2015 from gang shootings then all the people who died the last 20 years in school shootings. When in the last 20 years has the media reported this? And well we all know the lost cause the is Chicago.
