A man was killed during a gun battle with two other men who had followed him home from work and tried to rob him outside his Fife home, according to police.
It was around 6 p.m. when police received reports of gunfire in the 3800 block of 62nd Ave. East, according to Chief Pete Fisher with Fife Police. Officers arrived to find a Good Samaritan performing CPR on a wounded man outside the home. Officers took over until medics could arrive, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators determined the man had just driven home from work when two men who had followed behind tried to rob him. The victim, along with at least one of the robbers were armed and gunfire was exchanged, Fisher said.
One of the robbers was wounded in the gun battle and both went to an Auburn hospital to seek treatment. Detectives tracked down their suspects to the hospital and arrested the uninjured one for investigation of murder. The injured robber remains at the hospital in police custody for treatment of his wound, but Fisher didn't give any further details about his condition.
