Intruder shot in Everett real estate office | The Today File | Seattle Times

EVERETT — An employee of a real estate office in Everett shot and wounded an intruder Thursday during a fight.

Police say the 76-year-old employee had called 911 and said he was holding a burglar at gunpoint. But before officers arrived the 30-year-old suspect started throwing office equipment at the employee who shot him in the leg.

The man was able to flee. A police dog found him hiding in a backyard in the same block.

The wounded man was treated at a hospital before going to jail. The employee suffered a minor injury to his arm.
