This news is also breaking and details are sparse. Being a prepper I like to scrounge around and keep up with war related news, especially when it comes to Russia/China and the mid-east.

So the word is that Russia launched a mission On Feb 9th named Cosmos 2575. It contained an unknown payload.

Today, just a few hours ago, a congressman sounded that bell that a serious national security threat had recently been made known to congress and allies such as Canada. He wants Biden to release the info to the public. There are a number of sources. Drudge Report and CNN both have articles on it.

Right now the DOD is in panic control mode and they're downplaying it.

This is early breaking, so we'll see what comes of it.

So here's the New York Times article.
https://www.nytimes.com/2024/02/14/us/politics/intelligence-russia-nuclear.html

This little nugget caught my eye..

"ABC News reported earlier that the intelligence had to do with Russian space-based antisatellite nuclear weaponry. Current and former officials said that the launch of the antisatellite did not appear imminent, but that there was a limited window of time, which they did not define, to prevent its deployment."

Limited window of time to prevent its deployment...hrm..so exactly how do they plan on doing that.

Get your prep on people.

I remember Killer satellites were in popular mechanics and Newsweek magazines in the late 80's. Like a little secret cold war in space with ours following theirs and theirs following ours. I remember vividly a NoVA or other tv show that showed a graphic of a satellite nuclear explosion and even one that channeled that into lasers to kill other satellites. Probably mostly sci fi but some of it was probably true. German singers liek Nena and Falco popular at that time too. Seems like Australian was big too.

I love these memes and videos. Laughter in the face of SHTF is natural and healthy imo. Sometimes things are so F'ed all you can do is laugh. So I give to you the greatest apocalyptic 80's song..

Back in the late 80's while snoopin' and poopin' for "Big Green" in an undisclosed Central American jungle, the night sky was so clear (zero light pollution) that we'd all lay on our backs looking up at the amazing view of stars and watch all the spy satellites flying overhead.
