There are several absolutely huge data farms scattered about the country which are owned by the federal govt and NSA. Basically every bit of data that flows across the internet with US origin gets Hoovered up and dumped into them for analysis. Eventually, if not already, it will all be managed by AI which is already levels ahead of anything currently dripped down to the public. For what purpose? I don't know. Once they start tracking us by vaccine passports then they will likely begin to associate us with our life's data trail. Credit scores will go by the wayside and we will start using a social credit scores like China and our credit worthiness will be tied to our digital records.
It's coming.

This is a little off topic - but sort of close - and it's an interesting story.

Anyway, law enforcement may not know what guns you own, but if they find a specific firearm, law enforcement will most likely figure a way to trace it back to you - which may or may not be bad, I suppose.

Case in point: When I was living and working down in Ashland in the 80's and 90's, I sold my S&W 469 (wish I still had it) to a dude in 1990. Back then, you advertised in the Nickel Want Ads, traded gun for money and the deal was done.

A year later an ATF agent came to my place of work and asked the receptionist to get me. I came out of my office. They guy was pleasant, introduced himself, asked if I had ever owned a S&W 469 and showed me a photo of it. I told him I had and that I'd sold it about a year earlier.

He told me it had been recovered with other weapons in a meth-lab raid outside of Grants Pass. I know the serial number had been recorded by the small gun shop I bought if from on the sales receipt. Not sure how the ATF managed to figure out where it was sold. Or, it might have been that I registered the pistol with S&W for warranty, and they contacted S&W and got my name that way. Not sure.

Anyway, the agent asked me I could identify the guy I sold it to. Showed me a photo lineup of 6 guys. I couldn't identify the guy - just didn't remember.

Still, I keep what I have private unless I'm advertising it to sell. But that's just my preference.

What bout those of us who don't have serial numbers:s0001:
You will receive one at the Covid Recovery camp.

The Govt is already watching/surveilling many things.

These Are Supposedly The Words That Make The NSA Think You're A Terrorist | Business Insider

Mind you that I'm not saying that it's 100% accurate. But, it can also be a start. Is it that hard to believe that the program couldn't be expanded to firearms? Rrrright.....let me think of some "key words". Maybe, it's already up and running?

Aloha, Mark

PS...*even the word "porno" was there. Rrrright.....because awww.....well, it's porno. I should open/link up on my Govt computer to that. Rrrright......just for investigative/research purposes. And, if it's not what I'm looking for? Well....maybe after an hour of searching, something might be revealed. Those pixelated pictures are surely hiding something.

*re-reading the list, I can't find it anymore. Am I going blind? Rrrrright....the small print.

Ah ha......BINGO!

Lotta gun terms and software/internet terms on that list. Guess I'm on the radar. Oh crap! I bet radar is on the list. Is radar on the list?!!! :D

I have firearms the government know nothing about and would be damn hard to trace given they never had a serial number. That said I just want them to give me the one I bought DEC 23 2020 that for some stupid reason was delayed. I have a CHL I am the only person in the USA with my name, I have in the past had clearance to manage county jail inmates on a work crew with NO one else around I put my social on the damn 4473.

And its for a freckin 135 year old designed SINGLE SHOT RIFLE. Last time I pay cash. Can't even get my money back.

BTW, I still get the NRA's American Rifleman delivered in my mailbox. Maybe, the mailman will be turning me in?:s0092:

Nah, the Govt probably already has the NRA's membership list. And probably has even more lists since the days of Hillary.

No body is saying they don't have the data. Of course they have the data! Just who is it that's going to come to your house and confiscate your guns? "No One"!

They won't even come to your damned house after it's been burglarized to look for finger prints anymore. They don't pull people over for no license plates. They don't arrest people for burning federal, state and county buildings, for Christ sake!

It's preparation for the future. Add a layer of tin foil to the hat and dip a toe in the water. :s0033:

I needed to log into the IRS website for some tax info specific to me this week.

I had a profile from several years ago.

I needed to 're-confirm' that I am who I said I am.

One of the choices for ancillary ID was to enter the last 6 digits of a CC.

I deliberately used a card that was issued to me that neither my wife or I have EVER used.

I was approved instantaneously.

They know more about me than I do!

I absolutely despise that musik! But that is soo creepy, and sooo cool at the same time.

Totally of topic: I was watching a hitler coming to power and WWII documentary yesterday. They told how after we started gaining on the war in Germany they picked up a bunch of the nazi scientists and put them to work for the US. Apparently those German scientists laid the groundwork for our space programs.

If it exists it can be found. Records may look imposing; a mountain of paper, unknown terms and acronyms, weird indexing. But in the end they're not.

All it takes is time. I wish some above average competence was required. Having done archival research I'll say it doesn't, all it takes is motivation and time. With digitization the time factor pretty much goes away.

Bureaucrats don't throw stuff away. So yeah... they probably know.

But if you're not wearing your mask, or you use too many plastic straws.... No mercy!
