Just finished my first CERT training. Very eye-opening to see what the local government is preparing for and how. It sounds like the government is 100% certain this earthquake is going to happen. You would think more concern would be visible, but it seems most are pretty nonchalant about the threat.

So in response to preparing for the Cascadia event, I would expect Portland's office of emergency management to announce new priority bike lanes. Probably not much beyond that except to tell the snowflakes to report anyone who has bothered to prepare in the least bit and announce their location on social media. After all, prosperity distribution is their motto.

Yup. One for all and all for them.

So, basically what I gleaned from Dennis' letter, Oregon cannot meet minimal federal standards for emergency preparedness, the state legislature refuses to fund even minimal staffing requirements, and the impact of that will be reduced federal funds should an emergency occur...

Kudos to Kate Brown, Floyd Prozanski and the rest of the socialist scum inhabiting the state capital for mismanaging the state...

Ohhh. Dennis Richardson not Denise Richards. Every time I saw this thread pop up I wondered why the hot chick from Starship Troopers was talking Preps.

Pretty much. That and since this is the sad reality of the situation, one has to prepare at the personal, family, and community level.

If a Cascadia event levels the state, and turns life into a post-apocalyptic nightmare, we can all warmly remember that the government waste hotline was also a waste. ;)

When was the last time you saw Progressive Oregon not frothing at the mouth to spend Taxpayer (in their eyes the Government's) money. Would have nice if the HALF BILLION dollars wasted on a health care website and a study for a bridge we never built used for this. In their eyes that money wasn't wasted, but preparing for a disaster that WILL happen is.

First time in a long time you got the straight story from a government official that sh*t is screwed up in being prepared. It will be completely ignored by the majority of the people in particular the ones who elect and support the stranglehold that is the Governors office and the state legislature. Who will help us ??
