There are rumors, still just rumors, mind you, that there is a red tide rising in CA. There are still millions of conservatives in California, and many of them have really had it with the never-ending increase in taxes, regulation up the wazoo, new law after new law, job-killing and business killing government plans, etc. People and businesses are fleeing CA, they are not running to CA. There may be a real fight on the horizon for the future of what was a once great state. Some R politicians are beginning to see some solid support starting to build. It will be interesting to see down the road if the ultra-leftists have finally pushed it too far, and perhaps the center and right folks will start to fight to take it back. Hard to say if that could ever happen, but what a turnaround that could be.

California does a very strange primary (designed to cement power to the Democrats) by running everything together and the top 2 candidates reguardless of Party have a run off. The interesting thing this year was the second and 4th winners were Republicans and there combined vote tally would win the election. It will be an interesting year. My wife spent 10 days there a (returning last week) and she was very impressed with the leading Republican candidate.

My home town. It's been in the top 10 or so cities in the nation for murder rates for, well...since 1849.
That is because they refuse to deal directly with drug dealers and users. It isn't a disease, it's a crime and the murder rate follows it. Even Stockton has nice areas if you stay away from the infested places.
