As the Op, I'm not quite sure how we got from Biden meeting with the NRA to the present discussion.
On Thursday we will see if this amounts to anything or comes to nothing.

I believe earlier posters are correct in their predictions that Biden will hide behind the "They wouldn't budge, They weren't reasonable" argument.

It appears the administration already has telegraphed its intentions. Meeting with the NRA to merely demonize them afterwards is a flimsy sham, but that's showbiz.

A couple years ago, Obama was going to hold a meeting with business leaders to find ways to improve the economy. The business people were assembled, Obama came in , gave a short speech and left. He didn't talk to a single person. His disciples in the media let him get away with the scam. This meeting won't have any more value.

As Abbey says "The rifle is the weapon of democracy" and its partner is the ballot box). We pro rifle people need all the allies we can get. We disagree on taxes, the size of the state, the structure of trade, the social support network and so forth, in a DEMOCRACY we can still vote and work things out in the long run.

-It is unlikely anyone here, myself included, favor more gun control. We support the 2nd amendment as it stands, and taking away that right, as a whole or in part, is bad for America.

-It doesn't matter, in the context of this debate, whether you think the Obama administration are a bunch of criminals or not.

-Shouting about how you think the government is a bunch of criminals isn't going to get many people on your side. There are people who agree with you and people who disagree with you who won't have their minds changed no matter what. What you're doing is making the influenceable people in the center think you are a lunatic.

On privately owned forums that is unfortunately not the case. I came pretty close to being banned on a outdoor forum for talking about 2A rights. I was specifically told my 1A did not apply in that forum and I could be 86d for expressing my views. I no longer participate on that site.
