I heard Portland was talking about legalizing prostitution so that's something. Lol
They're also filing a massive lawsuit against numerous oil companies to the tune of $51 billion for "the deaths of 69 people during the heat dome due to Climate Change."

Those people control this state. They are losing millions in revenue with all of the businesses leaving Portland so they have to make up for it by filing frivolous lawsuits in the hopes that they get something. Big Oil will likely settle with them just to shut them up, and they really shouldn't give Portland a dime.

It's time Oregon started taking care of itself using the people that actually voted for this BS. I absolutely can't wait to move to Idaho.

Stay and fight for your state
I've lived at least a few years in 10+ different States in my near 60 on this planet. Oregon is still by far the best overall.

Yeah, it has it's problems, but what State doesn't?

You have to weight in not just politics, but the weather, the education level, the opportunities, cost of living and the natural beauty. Lots of States have some of each, but Oregon has the best overall IMO.

It's not the most gun-friendly State, but that's not the first of my list in a triage. I'd be just fine if I never shot a firearm again, but there are other things I just can't live without.

Sure better than living in Texas with 117 degree heat-wave or the mid-west and tornadoes or truly crime-ridden places like Chicago or Detroit, or the freezing weather and 6' of snow in the the eastern seaboard.

Sure glad I don't live in New York or Florida.

If I HAD to pick a new State to reside, it would likely be either Idaho or Maine.

Planning on taking my social-security check plus other passive income and retiring to Costa Rica.

This state is owned and controlled lock, stock, and barrel by leftists. I predict it's only a matter of time before OR falls under the yoke of a semiautomatic firearms ban similar to WA, hell the most draconian gun law in the country was already passed by voters here.

In terms of staying and fighting, to quote the movie War of the Roses, "There is no winning, only degrees of losing."

There is no requirement to own, handle or ever fire a firearm. As it should be.

There is however an amendment to our Constitution, the founding document of our Country, which allows freedom to make an individual choice. If folks wish to.

The problem with Oregon is that a few concentrated population centers (what 5%-10% of the land mass of Oregon?) Voters do NOT recognize everyone else in the States RITES.

That's a problem.

Want to share a story. :D
Some years back I hit a garage sale that two teachers put on. Guy told me him and his wife were retiring (in their early 50s) but both pensions together wouldn't be enough to live comfortably in Oregon.

Apparently she had family in France and they decided to move there because of the good socialist system France has. They sold everything and moved to France.

Sometime read up on how the French are doing.:s0140:

The world will catch up to you gents, don't get caught in the open.

We left. We appreciate the courage of those who have stayed for "the good fight." I feel for the loggers and farmers.

All those really cool rifles folks made from 80% receivers are now felonies. Be careful if you and two friends go shoot up in those beautiful natural areas. You are now participating in felony paramilitary activity.

I am really glad my kids got through school before it got bad.

The Oregon I was born and raised in, and raised and educated 6 children no longer exists.

God Speed Oregonians.

Just the idea of growing old someplace…it wasn't just lefty's that killed that dream.

In order to stay somewhere for a good long time, you need to either own a business that is sustainable or work for a company who is interested in the long haul with their employees. When did pensions go out the window? I recall the R party having a lot to do with policies that don't strengthen the worker's ability to be loyal.

And now? People need to work and those jobs will move. The people most willing to move will make the most, in the long run.

Settling in one location for life…yea that's a privilege I have never known, nor will know given the world today. Moving is the only constant.

:D pensions didn't fly out the window, every government employee has a great one. Its Joe Average that pays those pensions that can't retire comfortably.

Once you see how many government employees there are in Oregon then it's easy to see why the cost of living keeps rising. Pers is a huge honeybucket that the state gave themselves and the state milks the cash cow that the people have become.

Just 20 years and they get $34k.

if guns werent a thing, Oregon is still a very politically screwed up state in other ways far worse than just gun politics. I dont even know how this can be overlooked.

Would you support and East and West Oregon over Greater Idaho?
Yeah, split the State in two, I'd be fine with that. But, much like the Greater Idaho (or Liberty in WA, or Jefferson in CA) concept, I figure it'll never happen.

I wouldn't live on the East side of Oregon as I'm not fond of the weather and terrain as much.
