WWII German Mauser 8mm in the face while shooting at a gun club match. Fired on a squib not knowing. Bloodied my forehead with powder burn and schrapnel like a shotgun blast, never found some pieces of bolt/ejector. The bolt would not open-barrel intact. Thanks to Prescription safety glasses I did not loose my left eye as it pitted the lens. Also in my favor was the fact that first aid kits had just been put on the ranges. It was much of the flash bang effect one would expect from an event like this. The shoot was over for me that day though I was offered other rifles and ammo to continue. My Mauser was replaced that evening with an eastern europe front large trigger ring 8mm mauser that I still shoot. Shoot no-ones reloads but your own and always wear safety glasses when shooting.
