I don't know what or how, but something needs to happen to hold politicians personally liable for passing bills/laws they know are blatantly unconstitutional.

1) June 25 - https://www.oregonlegislature.gov/calendar/questions (because I'm to lazy to look it up I guess)
1. when does this legislative session close?
2. if, by a minor miracle, not having a quorum to pass sill bills during this, can the dem senate leader or Kotek declare an emergency session to pass the bills?
if #2 is correct, all our side is doing is holding off the inevitable. Possibly at cost to their political career.

Article IV, Section 10a of the Oregon Constitution, and ORS 171.015, outline the procedure by which the Legislative Assembly may call itself into emergency session, also called a special session
See https://www.oregonlegislature.gov/lpro/Publications/Background-Brief-Special-Session-2020.pdfThe Oregon Constitution, in Article V, Section 12, empowers the Governor "on extraordinary occasions" to convene the Legislative Assembly by proclamation. In such instances, the Legislative Assembly convenes on the date and time listed in the Governor's proclamation and, once assembled, the Governor states the purpose for which they were convened. Once convened, the Legislative Assembly is NOT limited to considering matters concerning the purpose as identified by the Governor.
Regardless of whether the session was called by the Legislative Assembly by ballot or by the Governor by proclamation, the session is concluded once a majority of members of both chambers determines that the business for which they were called has been completed, as signified by adoption of a sine die resolution.
Probably none. Don't be surprised if one certain Party decides that there needs to be a "special session" to recall/remove those who "shirked their civic duties in protest"1) June 25 - https://www.oregonlegislature.gov/calendar/

And if these bills are not stopped, what political career will the Rs have left?
Constitution Article IVProbably none. Don't be surprised if one certain Party decides that there needs to be a "special session" to recall/remove those who "shirked their civic duties in protest"
So, what is 'disorderly conduct'? We know from Mike Nearman that some actual behaviors have been deemed 'disorderly'. But staying out of the chamber/capitol does not seem to me to be 'disorderly'.Section 15. Punishment and expulsion
of members. Either house may punish its
members for disorderly behavior, and may
with the concurrence of two thirds, expel a
member; but not a second time for the same
cause. —
Silver lining is that it's refreshing to see some of our legislators who are willing to put their careers on the line to make a stand. All the more reason we need to show them support and encourage them to stay the course. They will be under increasing pressure to fold.Probably none. Don't be surprised if one certain Party decides that there needs to be a "special session" to recall/remove those who "shirked their civic duties in protest"
Unk if Oregon is like Wa but...we can't do diddly squat legally.. IE: by any law (s)I don't know what or how, but something needs to happen to hold politicians personally liable for passing bills/laws they know are blatantly unconstitutional.
Is it too inflammatory to say that this looks designed to prosecute neighborhood watch groups who came together to keep rioters from destroying their homes and property?Uhmmm, guys, where were you today? You've still got until Saturday at 1 to send in testimony against HB 2572 but could have used a hand today. You know you can testify remote right?
That's a legitimate argument that could very easily put into testimony. Is it too inflammatory to say that this looks designed to prosecute neighborhood watch groups who came together to keep rioters from destroying their homes and property?
Yes... do! Last time there was a prolonged absence the OSP got sent after them with orders to arrest and compel them to "show up for work". Fortunately, many had the brains to conveniently be out of state where the long arm of the governor could not reach. That wasn't even all that long ago.Today was day56 of R resistance in the Senate, after the weird weekend sessions designed to get members up to their 10 unexcused absences.
Kindly do drop messages of support to the (relatively) brave legislators. https://www.oregonlegislature.gov/senaterepublicans/Pages/leadership.aspx

Due to Biden's economy I had to take an 8 to 5 job so I am no longer free to wait on Zoom for hours hoping to get picked.Uhmmm, guys, where were you today? That's the Biden ecenomic recovery plan, AKA "Work Makes You Free" plan.Due to Biden's economy I had to take an 8 to 5 job so I am no longer free to wait on Zoom for hours hoping to get picked.
For those unaware, you can submit written testimony. Whether they read it is a whole other matter...Due to Biden's economy I had to take an 8 to 5 job so I am no longer free to wait on Zoom for hours hoping to get picked.
Man, I guess South Park was too far off about bussing homeless out west.I have no statistics of how many homeless are being bussed to Portland, but this video is conclusive proof that it is indeed happening.
Also, thanks @PiratePast40, i have contacted my reps to voice my displeasure with their deliberate attempt to create unconstitutional laws
The sustained walkout has put some senators dangerously close to clocking 10 unexcused absences on the Senate floor this session, which would disqualify them from reelection under Measure 113. A majority of Oregon voters approved the measure last November in response to high-profile Republican walkouts in recent years.
Three senators have nine unexcused absences as of Thursday, according to figures provided by Wagner's office: Sen. Daniel Bonham, R-Welches, Sen. Dennis Linthicum, R-Klamath Falls, and Boquist.
I really hope they stay strong and challenge 113. It's a nice gesture for the leftists to make themselves look "reasonable", but:Senate President Rob Wagner agrees to suspend floor sessions through weekend in effort to negotiate end to Republican walkout
Democrats suspended meetings of the state Senate through the weekend to negotiate an end to Republicans’ ongoing boycott of the upper chamber.www.oregonlive.com
