I'm guessing that they want it to go through the lower courts first.

While this is not Oregon so it's off topic, this is expected cuz Supreme Court almost never steps into a case before it's finished. Also judge easterbrook (the arrogant anti-gun 7th judge) prememted scotus from stepping in by fast tracking the briefings, making it so scotus would really be "interfering" if they stepped in at this early point.
That was expected. SCOTUS is notorious in wanting the full body of work to go through the court system before they get involved, if at all. It was a hail mary throw.
Waiting for the appropriate case to settle the Second Amendment, in its entirety, once and for all.I'm guessing that they want it to go through the lower courts first.
That is really sad that 68% of voters approved that measure.3 senators apparently barred from reelection as Republican boycott of Oregon Senate continues
It marked 10 unexcused absences for Sen. Brian Boquist, I-Dallas, Sen. Dennis Linthicum, R-Klamath Falls, and Sen. Daniel Bonham, R-Welches. Measure 113 disqualifies lawmakers with at least 10 unexcused absences from reelection.www.oregonlive.com
Because they didn't understand what the measure truly was. The title and the description were not clear that they were removing the last tool the minority party has in standing up to a supermajority in the legislature. That is really sad that 68% of voters approved that measure.
Yes it was. That's why the majority of the people who voted for it were Radicals, Liberals, or Progressives. They know that the only thing the Republicans have in this state are boycotts and walkouts. This is exactly what they want: a supermajority Democrat state.Because they didn't understand what the measure truly was. The title and the description were not clear that they were removing the last tool the minority party has in standing up to a supermajority in the legislature.
If it had been titled, how to give away your rights and freedoms, it probably, just probably, wouldn't have passed.
Guess elections or ballot measures have consequences. At this point, the republicans should just call it a legislative season and pack it in. Let the democrats wallow in their supermajority of socialism…
I'm still not entirely sure how the State got divided such that the majority falls to three counties.Well. If one Party refuses to negotiate, to compromise, to make any concession to the rural Oregonians and to the other Party... what else could they do? The message being sent by the Majority Party is a very clear F.U. to the 49.5%(+/- a few tenths?) of the Oregonians who voted NO to Measure 114....
Vera Katz? Make Portland the place to be for 10+ years with big contracts, job offers, attempting to make I-5 Corridor between PDX and Seattle the next Silicon Valley, bring in all these East Coast and Californian techies and hipsters, and make rural Oregon life harder by attacking the timber& paper industries, attacking the hunter/fisher sportsmen, preventing mining claims, selling mineral rights to big Corps, and buying farms to turn into corporate farms?I'm still not entirely sure how the State got divided such that the majority falls to three counties.
Legalized drugs and plenty of government handouts…I'm still not entirely sure how the State got divided such that the majority falls to three counties.
Not so sure how'd they get around the required quorum…. But based upon how the democrats run roughshod over the other 49.5% of Oregonians and the constitution, anything is possible for these legislative criminals….Just you wait and watch. Expect the Guv'ness to call for emergency session with the blessings of both OR Supremes and SOS to get these bills passed without quorum.
How did K8 get around the emergency powers time limit, with the help of Oregon Supremes? Not so sure how'd they get around the required quorum…. Fair enough…How did K8 get around the emergency powers time limit, with the help of Oregon Supremes?
